For mixed media artists this book is excellent, whether you're starting out or been doing it a while it gives you ideas or acts as a prompt to use different methods.
The authors have not been coy either with their 45 different surface techniques (we've all bought books where the authors dont 'really' tell you how they've created their techniques, they tell you just a bit and when you try it out for yourself you realise that there are another 10 steps that they've used to get to the final picture that they're showing in the book!!!!!)
Each pair of pages covers a technique, with an itemized list of materials needed, tools, tips, step by step photos and clear images of 6 or 7 variations on average.
There are absolutely no bad points to this book, unless you want lots of 'projects',final completed peices of art I should say to be clear (there's only 4 set out step by step)
For once, though, a book that 'does what it says on the tin'.... hurrah!!!!!
one aside though to be completely open with you, do not buy everything detailed in the lists of 'needed things', be resourceful...for instance, tar gel, expensive stuff is not worth the money, use cheaper runny craft paints for the pouring techniques, dont go out of your way to buy gold leaf, try ironed sweetie foils,
experiment with what you have...and enjoy :)
