I mistakenly bought/downloaded this Kindle book 'Surely You're Joking, Mr Feynman - Lesson Plans' thinking that it would contain the excellent original anecdotal autobiography 'Surely You're Joking, Mr Feynman'. What I got though was a publication whose sheer banality would have Feynman spinning in his grave.
'..Feynman - Lesson Plans' is nothing more than a collection of inane multiple choice and short answer trivia questions based on the content of the original book. [Sample question: What is the name of the restaurant where Feynman strikes up a conversation with a painter?]
What is the point? No intelligent thought or reasoning is required to answer these dumb questions. Nothing is gained that couldn't be acquired by reading the original.
Feynman himself, in the original, tells of when he was required to review and select science books for use by the educational authorities. In the process, he vigourously lambasted pseudo-scientific/educational books. I'm sure he'd feel the same way about this publication.
Do not buy this book '..Feynman - Lesson Plans'. Instead, get the original, 'Surely You're Joking, Mr Feynman' which is a wonderful book.
