Product Description

Product Description

Supertooth Visor Voice

The SuperTooth Voice is a Bluetooth hands-free visor solution that supports headset or hands-free profile phones. Its special features includes full DSP (Digital Signal Processing) noise/echo cancellation which provides advanced audio quality. It is designed for easy hands-free operation and reliable performance.

Text-To-Speech Technology

The SuperTooth Visor Voice provides users with the benefit of Text-To-Speech Technology. The voice will announce instructions for the user in a choice of 6 different languages. It indicates the status of the Bluetooth device and it announces the name (or phone number if the contact is not loaded into the phonebook) of the incoming caller.

Automatic phone book transfer

With simple vocal instructions to follow you can download your contacts from your mobile to the SuperTooth Voice. Once the download is complete, you are then able to utilise the voice dialling function to make calls and will announce the caller details when receiving a call.

Vocal Identification of incoming call

When you receive a call on the SuperTooth Voice you will be notified of the name of number of the person calling, with an introduction sentence. For example “call from 00000 111 111” or if the person calling is stored within your phonebook it would say "call from Tom Jones".

Voice Control

Once you receive a call, you then have the option to take the call using the SuperTooth Voice. Simply say "ok" to answer the call or press the red button on the device to reject the call.

Language options

The SuperTooth Voice has a selection of 6 languages to choose from: British English; American English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Simply select the language you require when pairing the device – full vocal instructions are given throughout the process, all you need to do is push the green button.

Volume up/volume down buttons

The volume of the device can be turned up or down with a simple button press. It will also advise you once maximum volume is reached.

Bluetooth/charge indicator

Situated on the front of the device is a Bluetooth indicator. This lets you know when the device is paired and is switched on. It also starts to flash red when the battery is getting low. There is a voice prompt to accompany this.

Installation

Installation couldn’t be simpler. The device just slides onto the cars sun visor – no wires, no glue, no screws. The SuperTooth Visor Voice is a fully portable device for use in the car or in the office as a loud-speaker or conference calling device. The metal clip is fixed to the device by 2 strong magnets, allowing it to be detached from the visor with ease for portability.

Hot Button Controls

There are 2 main keys on the device:

The Red Key – press the red button to reject an in-coming call; end a call or load the phonebook from your mobile.

The Green Key – use the green button to turn the device on or off; answer a call; start voice dialling or redial the last number.

Auto Reconnection

The SuperTooth Voice utilises Bluetooth Version 2.0 to provide wireless connectivity. The connection with a paired device has a range of 10 m. When the device is situated in the vehicle in standby mode it will automatically recognise when the paired device comes back into range and connect seamlessly. This also works when leaving the vehicle.

Charging the device

The SuperTooth Visor Voice takes up to 3 hours to fully charge. Once charged the device will remain on standby for up to 800 hours and boasts a talk-time of up to 15 hours. It comes complete with an in-car (cigarette-light) charger but any mini-usb charger will fit the device.

Additional Features Include:

Full Duplex provides both callers the opportunity to talk simultaneously, as you would when using a stand alone mobile phone. Coupled with Full DSP noise / echo cancellation (which minimises background noise) the SuperTooth Voice provides a seamless call with a high, clear sound quality.

Driving Law:

There are a number of things which as drivers on the roads in the United Kingdom we are not permitted to do. One of these is drive whilst using a mobile telephone.

When Did the Legislation Change?

The legislation regarding the use of mobile phones in motor vehicles changed on the 1st December 2003. Prior to this it was not illegal to use mobile phones whilst driving although it was frowned upon by the police and the Highways Agency.

What Does the Change in Legislation Mean?

The change in the legislation means that it is now illegal to use a mobile phone handset whilst in charge of vehicle i.e: when the vehicle is in movement. This means that if you are pulled over by the police for using a mobile phone whilst driving, you will immediately have three points put on your license and are also liable to pay a fine which can range from £30 up to a maximum of £2500.

The Use of Hands Free Kits

The change to the legislation does not apply to hands-free kits, so you may still use one, providing is a true hands-free device. If you are using a Bluetooth device or a mobile phone in a cradle in your car then this is acceptable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hands free must 23 Dec 2007
Format:Accessory
Good hands free option for your car - better than an earpiece as mine keeps falling off. Once you have mastered how to send and receive it is quite easy to use. The contacts download from your phone to the hands free automatically in a few seconds. You do have to speak quickly when making a voice activated call and say the name as you did when you recorded the voice tag. When a call is being received the unit tells you who is calling (if the caller is listed in your phone book). When I made a call I couldn't at first hear my caller although he could hear me - on some phones you then have to press the green button for 1 second to transfer the audio from the phone to the unit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! - buy one! 17 Mar 2008
Format:Accessory
I have had 3 bluetooth visor speakers in the last 12 months and they have all been so bad that it is impossible to have a conversation - then I bought this one and it is fantastic. Everyone can hear me perfectly and I can hear them. It announces who is calling and you just shout "OK" to take the call. You can voice dial too if your phone supports voice dialling. The clip supplied fits the visor and the unit attaches with magnets so it is easy to take off and hide away when not in use. Also the battery lasts for ages. I cannot praise it enough, especially after all the bad buys I had before.

5.0 out of 5 stars Visor Voice; an excellent product. 15 Jan 2008
Format:Accessory
I did the usual amount of Internet research that I do before I buy almost anything, and found that vast majority of comment was very positive although I was surprised that nobody mentioned the one failing in an otherwise excellent product.
That failing is that it can only be charged in-car via a 12v lead (supplied). Obviously, you need to use the unit when in the car, so charging it means that it can't be used on the visor, as there'd be a lead dangling in front of your eyes. The instructions say that the microphone should be directly in front of the mouth, because of this, it can't be mounted elsewhere. A mains charger would be a big improvement.
Apart from this relatively small gripe, it does exactly what it says on the tin, or rather it's plastic packaging.
The set-up is very easy; it automatically downloaded the handset (a Sony Ericsson K8ooi) phone book very quickly after following the spoken prompts. The speech is very clear during a call and the volume can be turned up very loud without any loss of clarity.
The text to speech conversion is amazing, it's so clear when announcing the caller that there's no mistaking who's on the line. It announces when the call has ended, when it has connected with the handset, and when it powers up and down. Because you don't need to look at the handset to see who's calling or to answer, you don't need to take your eyes off the road. This must mean that road safety is improved.
Summary: I would have given the Visor Voice five stars but for the lack of a mains charger, however, I thoroughly recommend it despite that.

Update March 2011. I've been using this for 3 years now and it's still going strong! The battery life is amazing, and I've had no problems whatsoever with it, that's why I'm changing my rating to 5 Stars!

Update December 2012. It's still in daily use and still working perfectly.
