Product Description

British nanny Julie (Sienna Guillory) runs into trouble when she is blamed for a series of inexplicable fires in the Italian household where she works. Accused of being a witch, she is put on trial and defended by the young lawyer Antonio Gabrieli (Mark Strong). As the trial unfolds, a relationship develops between Antonio and Julie, but his attempt to find a rational explanation for the fires has yet to bear any fruit and time is fast running out.

Product Description

Horror Drama based on a true story. Featuring a star-studded cast, this is the dark and supernatural tale of 19 year-old English Nanny, Julie McCullough (Sienna Guillory - The Time Machine; The Principles of Lust) who whilst working for a wealthy Italian couple in Italy, finds herself being sexually harassed by the husband. Shortly afterwards the baby in her charge is found dead from a mysterious fire. Arrested by the Police for murder and branded a witch by the Press she maintains her innocence but no one believes her. When more mysterious fires occur, questions are asked, is she possessed or does she have telepathic capabilities. It's up to her lawyer Gabrieli (Mark Strong - Syriana; Sherlock Holmes; Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) and former psychiatrist Mother Frances (Charlotte Rampling - The Damned; The Night Porter; Swimming Pool) to try to prove her innocence by unravelling her past. Also starring, David Warner (Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment; Time after Time), Alice Krige (Chariots of Fire; Fallen), Frances Barber (Prick up Your Ears; Sammy and Rosie Get Laid) & Derek De Lint (Stealing Heaven; The Unbearable Lightness of Being).

What makes a great actor? I really don't know the answer to that but I do know what unconvincing acting is AND that is what we have here, in this rigmarole about an English nanny in Italy accused of burning a baby. EXAMPLE ONE: Mark Strong (who, at least in this movie, doesn't make a mark & is not strong) He's the defense. He is never credible and never convincing. EXAMPLE TWO: Charlotte Rampling ( who is suppose to be a class act isn't she? ) It must be me. She's the mother. O dear me. EXAMPLE THREE Sienna Guillory ( who is gorgeous but can't convincingly hold a cigarette ) She's the nanny. O deary deary me. EXAMPLE FOUR the prosecutor ( who lets the botox do the acting ) Let's leave it there, shall we?
Put it this way, I've had more fun at some funerals. Get a life.

Julie is a nanny to an Italian family. A fire breaks out and the baby is killed. Julie is arrested.

A simple enough story. The tale gets complicated when the press reports that Julie is a witch. Furthermore, fires seem to break out spontaneously around her.

What is really happening? Who is really guilty? Is the husband a lech or a person being led by a temptress?

Julie's defence lawyer is still reeling from the loss of his wife a year ago. Will they be able to help each other?
