Well i was glued to the TV series mainly for its showcase of great musicianship. I wasn't anticpating much from this album, but after listening to it i am impressed. There are some excellent songs on from Lukas Rossi's anthem Headspin to my personal favourite track Be Yourself (And 5 Other Cliches).

1. It's On - 7.5/10 - A great track to listen to whilst sitting in the sun, definately a summer track, a great sing a long a chorus. A solid start to the album.

2. Leave The Lights On - 7/10 - Starts with a bluesy riff, introduces some nice QOSTA-esk piano in the chorus. Rossi's voice really shines on this voice delievering a ''sexy'' vocal. Trails off towards the end.

3. Be Yourself (And 5 Other Cliches) - 8/10 - On of the best songs on the album. Some excellent guitar from Gilby Clake and a great sing along chorus again, borrowing the Ramones use of Hey and Ho.

4. It's All Love - 7/10 - A solid ballad, something you would hear in the background of a teen drama (One Tree Hill, maybe?). Another good track.

5. Can't Bring Myself to Light This Fuse - 5/10 - The album at it's weakest. Rock Star Supernova attempting Coldplay. Not good, but listenable.

6. Underdog - 6.5/10 - Handclaps time! Viewers of the show will recognise this one, for its instrumental version's use on the VTs. Another solid song.

7. Make No Mistake... This Is the Take - 7/10 - A heavier offering on the album, a great chorus, which will get in your head.

8. Headspin - 8/10 - Another of the best tracks, such a heartfelt song, which you can lose yourself in. I prefer this version to the orginal recording of it.

9. Valentine - 6.5/10 - This is one is basiclly Underdog and Be Yourself combined at the beginned.

5.0 out of 5 stars SuperNova Supergroup 24 Nov 2006
Format:Audio CD
This is the debut album from reality tv assembled "rock supergroup" Rock Star Supernova, and as such really emphasises the pros and cons of using a tv contest to find a singer for a band.

Firstly, taken as an album out of context this is fantastic and gets 5 stars easily... Every song is memorable, catchy, and simply put, balls to the wall rock! Unfortunately, however, this album will not be reviewed without a direct reference, either explicitly or not, to the tv series...

Critics automatically dismiss it as a band with "a singer who won a reality tv show", and fans of the show have usually made up their mind before the album is ever made! Fans of Lukas will rejoice and relish every minute, fans of Dilana, Toby or anyone else will listen thinking it could have been so much better, such is the attachment made to contestants during a televised search for a singer...

On the plus side, the band have a lot of coverage they normally wouldn't get, and 4 or 5 of the songs on the album are already etched into the minds of viewers, meaning half the album has been showcased and such was the popularity of those songs more people will buy the album...

But let's try and, if possible, take this album as it is... 40 minutes of top notch rock music! Lukas sounds great, the band sound great... Rock on!

1.0 out of 5 stars Dire 5 Sep 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Well, I didn't watch the tv program, but bought it out of curiosity and also the pedigree that 3 of the 4 have got...
Not one memorable tune and it sounds like rocked up pop, and I use the term 'rocked up' very loosely.
