Product Description

Product Description

Twenty-three years ago, when Sam Winchester was a baby and his brother Dean just a toddler, they lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the boys' father John raised his sons to be warriors, teaching them about the creatures that live in the dark corners and on the back roads of America ...and how to kill them. Now Sam and Dean travel the country, ridding small towns and large cities of creatures that most people believe only exist in folklore, superstition, and nightmares.

About the Author

Alex Irvine is the author of seven novels, including The Narrows, A Scattering of Jades, and Batman: Inferno, and two collections of short stories, most recently Pictures from an Expedition. He has also written a Marvel Comics series, Hellstorm: Son of Satan, and online narratives. His fiction, which has been translated into nine languages, has won the Locus, Crawford, and IHG awards and been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and the World Fantasy Award. In 2005, he was awarded the New England Press Association's top prize for investigative journalism, and that same year was part of a writing team that won a Webby and the International Game Developers Association Innovation award.

This is a good addition to the story of Supernatural. It fills in some of the history of John Winchester and the boys providing some interesting titbits of information that, so far, have not been in the show or the graphic novels. I say so far because there is a new graphic novel due out at the end of this month.

If you want to know more about Sam and the effects the Yellow Eyed Demon have had on him, check this out. Want more info on Dean and the car, look here. Want to know why John was so Paranoid and Dean so protective then buy the book. Just want to know more - there is more in this book!

Supernatural lover or obsessive check it out because there is a lot of back story that fills in some of the gaps left by the show.

A really good read.. 26 May 2009
Format:Hardcover
Well worth the money, time and effort I spent on this product. I love Supernatural so it compliments the show. Interesting to read about the boys upbringing and background to the Winchesters. Good to see the story backgrounds to the lores and legends that we see on Supernatural. A fab find. Spooktastic!

I bought this book as I'm an Avid Fan of Supernatural.
I drive my family mad but they know that the programme is great.
This is a must buy for any fan as it fills in some of the information about their father ans what he was feeling when Mary his wife died.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of the show.

Not to buy. Borrow from the library instead
I love the show, but this book is really not very good. It is John Winchester's journal and only his point of view is written here, although very superficially. Read more
