Product Description

In the tradition of interweaving character drama with the supernatural in such hits as Smallville, a completely new kind of thrill ride takes viewers on a journey into the dark world of the unexplained in Supernatural. Bound by tragedy and blood to a dangerous, otherworldly mission, two brothers travel from the Colorado wilderness to the Nebraska farmlands and on to the isolated Wisconsin lakes, encountering creatures that most people believe only exist in folklore, superstition and nightmares. As they follow clues in their father's journal, the brothers realize that he has passed on to them all the knowledge he accumulated during the past 20 years. They take up the mantle of his crusade and crisscross the lonely and mysterious back roads of the country in their '67 Chevy Impala, searching for their missing father - and hunting down every evil supernatural force they encounter along the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Very Good! 30 Aug 2006
This show has a wonderful feel. A mix of 'Buffy' and 'X-files'. Each episode has a different case/story and is set in a new town, like the X-files. With a thought out mythology that Buffy had, and a few fights. The actors are wonderful, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are completely believable as brothers. Jared being the sensible, but pretty one. Jensen being the wreckless, rugged one, that all the girls (and boys) love.

In this half of the series, it's mostly stand alone episodes. with a few continuations throughout, that refer to the characters, personal journeys. Featuring lots of cameos from stars of cult series. the biggest is Amy Acker (Fred) from Angel, so look out for her.

Overall - I loved it. There are lots of moments when you think, that a blatent rip-off from the grudge or house on haunted hill or jeepers creepers. but, with a little twist to differentiate the two. BUT, DON'T TAKE IT TOO SERIOUSLY. It's fun! The actings great. Effects are really really glossy. and the end of the this boxset sees the start of a side character 'Meg'. who looks like touble for the boys.

THE SERIES IS GREAT, but, Warner Bros. really need to employ a better graphic designer! the box has a georgous cover, but, the dvds have all the same covers. being a graphic designer myself, that is a real annoyance!!! let alone lazy and confusing!!! plus give us some special features!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great, Fresh New Show 2 Mar 2006
Supernatural debuted in the States last September, and in the UK in January.
The show centres around two brothers, Sam Winchester(Jared Padalecki "Gilmore Girls", "House of Wax") a college student determined to escape his family's dark past and his brother Dean Winchester(Jensen Ackles "Smallville") who asks for Sam's help when thier estranged father goes missing while out "hunting".
We soon find out that the Winchester brothers were dragged into the world of demonic beings and urabn legends by their father who is detremined to hunt down the evil spirits that murdered his wife when the boys were younger.
Now Sam who's girlfriend has been murdered by the same forces that murdered their mother the two boys set out on a cross country search for their missing father batting evil forces and trying to avoid the law along the way Supernatural is a show not to be missed.
Highlight episodes from this collection of episodes include, "Pilot", "Bloody Mary", "Skin" and "Home" and guest stars including Amy Acker, Julie Benz and Marnette Patterson. The special effects are great, the acting is great and there is enough fear factor to make you jump on more than one occasion.
Dive into the world of Supernatural, because you'll find yourself wanting more of this ritchly layed new triller seires not to be taken lightly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scary just got sexy indeed 15 Aug 2006
Difficult though it may be to ignore the astonishing yumminess of the two brothers, the story for each episode just about manages to distract me from the (otherwise) predictable instinct to drool. The special effects are pretty slick for TV, but "Supernatural" thankfully relies on its storylines and fast-paced scripts rather than its realistic ghouls, etc. I'm renting the DVD's at the moment because I missed most of the series when it was showing on TV, but I may just put them on my Christmas list. Even my husband enjoys watching this, and he doesn't usually like scary viewing.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Lover of the Supernatural 11 July 2006
Over twenty years ago Dean and Sam's mother was murdered by an evil being which lead to their father becoming obsessed and infatuated with the thing responsible for his wife's dead. Their lives truly changed that day as it opened their eyes to the supernatural. Now the boys are grown men but have become very different people, Dean has become a hunter of all things that are evil like his dad whilst Sam just wants a normal life with his girlfriend Jess and to finish college. Unfortunately life doesn't work out for Sam as he plans it as his girlfriend dies exactly the same way as his mother did. This leads Sam to join his brother cross country, encountering spirits, shapeshifters, vampires, all things supernatural.

At first I was hesitant about watching Supernatural as there has been so many shows that have not matched the likes of Buffy and Angel, however Supernatural is in a league of it's own. There hasn't been any shows like it as the stories are often dark and intriguing. It's a wonderful series that portrays these brother's superbly as the thing I mostly enjoy are not the mythical and folklore creatures but the brother's bond which is truly strong!

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting and Absorbing 18 Aug 2006
I found Supernatural to be an imaginative and creative show that was still dark enough to be tense and full of suspense. The stars are likable yet flawed, rougish in fact, consumed with their quest and yet philanthropic in their deeds. The various demons and sundry other mysterious entities encountered are intelligently thought out and a fascinating glimpse into a hypothetical underworld of spirits and monsters. The show progresses at a steady pace and develops its characters nicely and rises to a gripping finale. Roll on season 2.

I loved this show from the first momement I saw it. Actually I started to like once I heard about because the story line just sounded to good to be missed. Then when I saw it, I was amazed at how well acted and well written it was. The relationship between the two brothers is really believable, sibling rivalry and family dynamics make a great undercurrent in addition to the scary drama that unfoldes. I have not seen a single epsiode that I did not like, some were scarier than others, but I guess that depends on what people find scary. It is the only show of its kind being that it is not scifi and not quite fantasy (like Buffy and Angel were) but more true to horror than anything else out there. It is dark and edgy and it will keep you in your seat. Do not miss it, I hope that there will be many more chances to see it and many more seasons...
