Very Very Good!,
By
This review is from: Supernatural - Season 1 Part 1 [DVD] (DVD)
This show has a wonderful feel. A mix of 'Buffy' and 'X-files'. Each episode has a different case/story and is set in a new town, like the X-files. With a thought out mythology that Buffy had, and a few fights. The actors are wonderful, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki are completely believable as brothers. Jared being the sensible, but pretty one. Jensen being the wreckless, rugged one, that all the girls (and boys) love.
In this half of the series, it's mostly stand alone episodes. with a few continuations throughout, that refer to the characters, personal journeys. Featuring lots of cameos from stars of cult series. the biggest is Amy Acker (Fred) from Angel, so look out for her. Overall - I loved it. There are lots of moments when you think, that a blatent rip-off from the grudge or house on haunted hill or jeepers creepers. but, with a little twist to differentiate the two. BUT, DON'T TAKE IT TOO SERIOUSLY. It's fun! The actings great. Effects are really really glossy. and the end of the this boxset sees the start of a side character 'Meg'. who looks like touble for the boys. THE SERIES IS GREAT, but, Warner Bros. really need to employ a better graphic designer! the box has a georgous cover, but, the dvds have all the same covers. being a graphic designer myself, that is a real annoyance!!! let alone lazy and confusing!!! plus give us some special features! Enjoy!

A Great, Fresh New Show,
By
This review is from: Supernatural - Season 1 Part 1 [DVD] (DVD)
Supernatural debuted in the States last September, and in the UK in January. The show centres around two brothers, Sam Winchester(Jared Padalecki "Gilmore Girls", "House of Wax") a college student determined to escape his family's dark past and his brother Dean Winchester(Jensen Ackles "Smallville") who asks for Sam's help when thier estranged father goes missing while out "hunting". We soon find out that the Winchester brothers were dragged into the world of demonic beings and urabn legends by their father who is detremined to hunt down the evil spirits that murdered his wife when the boys were younger. Now Sam who's girlfriend has been murdered by the same forces that murdered their mother the two boys set out on a cross country search for their missing father batting evil forces and trying to avoid the law along the way Supernatural is a show not to be missed. Highlight episodes from this collection of episodes include, "Pilot", "Bloody Mary", "Skin" and "Home" and guest stars including Amy Acker, Julie Benz and Marnette Patterson. The special effects are great, the acting is great and there is enough fear factor to make you jump on more than one occasion. Dive into the world of Supernatural, because you'll find yourself wanting more of this ritchly layed new triller seires not to be taken lightly.

Scary just got sexy indeed,

This review is from: Supernatural - Season 1 Part 1 [DVD] (DVD)
Difficult though it may be to ignore the astonishing yumminess of the two brothers, the story for each episode just about manages to distract me from the (otherwise) predictable instinct to drool. The special effects are pretty slick for TV, but "Supernatural" thankfully relies on its storylines and fast-paced scripts rather than its realistic ghouls, etc. I'm renting the DVD's at the moment because I missed most of the series when it was showing on TV, but I may just put them on my Christmas list. Even my husband enjoys watching this, and he doesn't usually like scary viewing.
