Firstly, in terms of value for money, this is a book of some 471 pages, with three favourite authors of mine and one who I used to like, and for the price paid, it is SO worth it.
The Larissa Ione is the first in the book and the second longest tale, which is set in the joint worlds of Demonica and the Lords of Deliverance and is possibly the hottest tale of the lot. It's about Daywalker Nathan, a vampire who is cursed to be able to walk in the sun, thereby not being able to end his life by this method, who has been waiting patiently for centuries, managing a fight-club for the man responsible for the loss of his mate, in order to be able to have his vengeance. The club is infiltrated by Lena, a hyena-shifter who cannot shift, who is a nurse at UG, whose brother has been killed at the club, and who goes undercover to find out what happened...and the two end up as mates. A fast-paced, all-action, hot and sexy tale with at least 2/3 scorching sex scenes and a HEA, and on top, we get to see most of the male leads from the previous tales, which for me always earns bonus points. 5*
The Alexanda Ivy tale comes directly after Devoured By Darkness, and features Laylah's mother Kata as the female lead, and Uriel, the second-in-command of Victor, the clan chief of London as the male lead. He was tortured and `marked' by a Jinn centuries ago and has always hated them, but he is sent to rescue Kata, whose daughter was a result of her mating with a Jinn during her centuries of captivity. Quite a fast paced-tale, with non-stop action, more mention of The Child that Laylah was so focussed on protecting, the introduction of a possible new side-character, but for me, as it featured none of the other previous leads, it lacked a little something. The one sex scene in this came at the very end, due to the nature of the tale, and was...sensual rather than erotic. 3*
The Jacquelyn Frank tale was my least favourite, as her tales IMHO, got too convoluted and lengthy when I stopped reading her, just after Noah and the first in her The Gatherers series. This is an addition to her The Nightwalkers series and was ok for me, as it did have a storyline and the couple were true mates, and yes, there were brief glimpses of Jacob and Noah, but the lead's `thing' was mind-control, which he actually used on the female lead several times, to manipulate matters to his convenience. I think Coercion is the word, and yes, he got punished for it and redeemed himself a time when he could have pressed his advantage, and yes, it had some hot and heavy stuff, but for me, that `world' is no longer one that I enjoy. 3*
The GA Aiken (Shelley Laurenston) Dragon tale was an utter hoot. It is set in her Dragon Kin series and features a warrior female dragon (Bercelak's sister) tasked with escorting a diplomat - a rather bookish, highborn dragon male with seduction on his mind, through dangerous territory. This was SO much better than the last full-length novel in this series, Last Dragon Standing, and had lots of slapstick, romance, lots of violent fighting, some very hot and descriptive sex and an actual proper story, as well as being funny. In fact, we get to see their epilogue many years down the line, complete with many warrior-children, and they are still each doing their own nothing-in-common-jobs, but they are still very much in love. Hot, sexy, fast-paced and very funny. 5*
