Product Description

Based on a new starring the most popular and recognised super hero in the world, Superman: The Man of Steel will challenge players to protect Metropolis from super villains Braniac 13 and Lex Luthor, as well as a legion of malevolent robots intent on destroying the city and taking over the world.

Braniac 13 attempts to take control of the advanced technology behind the futuristic Metropolis that would enable him to destroy the city and rule the world--this calls for the Man of Steel to go to work.

Superman: The Man of Steel features comic book inspired environments such as the popular futuristic Metropolis, the Phantom Zone and War World. Anyone who's familiar with the Superman comics will be in sheer heaven. Popular characters appear throughout including Bizzaro, Metallo, Mongul, Cyborg and of course Lex Luthor who has never been so tough.

Superman: The Man of Steel features new incredible state of the art effects for the Xbox hardware. Superman has access to all his famous powers, including Freeze Breath, X-Ray Vision, Telescopic Vision and many more. Whilst engaging in hand-to-hand combat, Superman can use a variety of other skills to destroy his enemy.

Quite Enjoyable 13 Oct 2011

Fun:
A really nice video game which I had only recently discovered had actually existed.
This is one for the Superman fans, with different levels and missions. One map/level which was particularly enjoyable for me was the city Metropolis which actually taken directly from the main comic book continuity.
The Graphics are surprisingly good for 2002.
But for every review there are always the pros and cons.
Voice acting could have been a bit better, and dialogue seemed robotic, almost as if there was a template for the Man of Steel :"Great scott or Krypton(Insert danger here) I've got to (insert action here) "
The controller layout is really awkward but learnable.

To sum it up: Fantastic gameplay, graphics and sound. This is one video game the Superman/Comic Book lover cannot miss!

(Please note this game is not compatible with the XBOX 360)

Fun:
Well I have to say, this is most usual for me. See when it comes to such a great character I usually find the games with this sort of gameplay ok but the ones with a GTA-style free roaming ability (like Superman Returns) great.

In this case I find that this is mostly the better one out of the recent two efforts. It has better graphics and more detail. The gameplay is mostly smooth and easy to learn. The only disadvantage this has against Superman Returns is that in SR you can run and fly at breakneck speeds wheras here he's very slow for a superbeing. Still it has a better storyline and script. However it is also quite repetitive in the mould of fight some robots, defeat them, disarm a bomb or two, fight robots, disarm bomb or two, fight robots.....

Still there are loads of bonuses to go back for. They range from a total of nine different costumes including his standard one, concept art from the game as well as the game's score etc.

However because of it's repetition it might be worth renting out first before thinking of buying.

Being a big fan of the Superman comic books, I had to get "the man of steel" as soon as I bought my Xbox.

The graphics a very good, metropolis is mapped in great detail, very accuratley. However, the game play consists of a hand full of attack moves, and is quite difficult to handle.

I found myself getting bored and irritated quite soon.

A lot more could be done with the license for Superman, I am sure.
