Bought a bunch of these books for my 4 year old son, who up until now has shown no interest whatsoever in learning to read. It seems the superheroes have captured his imagination and we now have to read one each night at bedtime. Just the right length for a bed time story, and simple words that he is already picking up. He's so excited about finally being able to read a full book to me, so he can get some level 3 books. Have already recommended these to other parents - and these books have also made great birthday presents for nursery friends.

This book is a great introduction to Superman for an adult reading it to a child it's a 5 minute story for a young reader it would take longer but the words are clear and the story is simple and easy to follow with great full page pictures- better then comic style books. My 3 year old son and 5 year old daughter love this book!! We will collect more in the range and I think in a year or so my daughter will be reading parts to her little brother. A great buy!

I am a self confessed Comic Book geek and my 6 year old Son has watched me read graphic novels and comic books his whole life. When he started showing an interest in my books, I started researching if there were age appropriate comics for children his age. I found these "I Can Read" series of books and ordered this one first because who doesn't love Superman!!

My Son is a fairly good reader, but the books sent home from school for homework are very repetitive and a bit boring and they honestly didn't excite him or encourage him to want to read outside of School. This book, however, immediately grabbed his attention and he worked through the entire book one afternoon, with a little help from me. I've read other reviews that complain about phrases like "Fortress of Solitude" used in these books, because a child couldn't understand these words themselves, but I found that it encouraged a dialogue with my child, he came to me and asked me questions about what he was reading, was interested to learn more, rather than just reading the words on the pages like he does with his school books!

Now, my Son is excited to sit down in the evenings and read his "Comic Book" while Mummy reads hers, not because he has to for School, but because he wants to! I honestly believe that, not only will these books encourage and improve my Sons reading, but they've hopefully stirred my Son's interest in something I personally love, and it'll be something I can share with him as he gets older!!

My 4.5-year-old son loves Little Golden Books with super heroes and doesn't get tired of them! They are really just descriptions of the heroes rather than stories, but my son doesn't seem to mind. I would recommend it if your little one is into these characters.

I was personally a little disappointed because it wasn't written particularly well - there were a lot of 'Superman said' in the dialogue - so many that my husband and I have to gloss over a few of them because they don't sound right.

Perfect for young readers. I bought this for my son who started reception. His vocabulary has increased and he enjoys reading now. He routinely picks these books up from his shelf and reads to me. He finds the stories enjoyable. They are different levels and different super heroes books. They encourage reading. I bought a few at level one and a few at level two.

Bought for a 4 year old boy into his super hero's
Loved the book. Story is simple to read - some hard words for the 4 year old but will last a few years
Read almost every night for the first 2 weeks
Can highly recommend this book if you're looking for something to get kids excited about reading

My 5 year old son loves reading these books. Far more exciting than another tortoise and hare story... I can recommend the level 1 books as well. Much easier to keep boys' attention and interest in reading.
