a good read 27 May 2010
Format:Paperback
I'm a big Batman fan. Superman has never quite appealed to me as much, but I do like their relationship, how they see the world in very different ways, both heroes for different reasons. This comic brings out their differences well with the contrasting interior monologues. The little story "When Bruce met Clark" is also quite a nice story. The artwork is very good and the story captivating, Luthor as always a formidable foe. Defintely worth a read if you like the two characters, and I will read some of the others in the series too.

Great comic 24 Feb 2010
Format:Paperback
I bought this book because of two reasons, I already owned the second volume in this series (Supergirl) and Warner Bros has recently released an animated film of of this book, and since there's no clear date on when/if it'll be released in the UK, I wanted to read this and when I did, I thought it was AWESOME.

Superman gets declared an enemy of the state by President Lex Luthor, and teams up with Batman as they fend off capture from nearly every superhero and villain in the DC Universe. The best part of this book are the thoughts of Batman and Superman, two polar opposite characters who nevertheless think almost exactly the same whilst approaching their mutual problems from different perspectives.

How could this plot fail? It doesn't, and combined with great dialogue and artwork, this book is a must have for Superman and Batman fans.

BELIEVE IT 8 Sep 2004
Format:Hardcover
As an avid Batman comics reader I read this title when sold as the separate issues, and could certainly not wait for the next continuing issue. I do not agree with the review offered previously. For a long time Batman and Superman were allies, very good friends even. Right up to the 70s and early 80s. However during the Dark Knight Returns period, Superman was cast as an adversary of Batman's. Although I am the no. 1 Batman fan, and agree heartfelt with Bruce that Clark can be sloppy and undisciplined, nonetheless I did not always like seeing how every artist and writer since had continued with the adversarial feelings. THEN along comes this book, and while thankfully not being as cheesily chummy as the older stories were, it certainly shows how these 'World's Finest' heroes should feel and view each other. There will even be moments that will grip you emotionally, unintentionally or not. If you have never read it, then read it, you do not know what you are missing. As I said, it has been far too long for these two to get along. Thank DC that some astute writer finally put it right. Certainly as good as the relationship between the two on the 'Justice League' cartoon series.
