This was great fun, a well written and highly entertaining account on the genre that now dominates summer cinema. Detailed accounts of the most important films in this series and their shared characteristics and relevance are written in a style that shows the author immense knowledge and enthusiasm for his topic while retaining a sense of fun. I did not expect this light-heartedness when purchasing and it made the book far more enjoyable and easier to read without diminishing its content or purpose.
Like all reviewers, his negative analyses are more enjoyable to read and his critique of "Batman and Robin" is both horribly funny and deeply
scathing. There isn't enough of these rants, but this book was great, and anyone who's watched any superhero film ever would get a lot of enjoyment from it.
