So, I've been listening to Gatecrasher for quite a while now, about 6/7 years or so, and have been to their clubs a number of times; so what I am going to do is seperate this review into four parts, reviewing each CD and then the product as a whole.
Lets start with Cream.
The music at best on this CD is standard club music, it doesn't stand out, and basically contains remixes or original tracks that you can hear on the radio, and no doubt have done many-a-time. The mixing on this CD isn't great, and a good number of tracks that are good in their original state have been destroyed by some remix or another. If your like me and are very passionate about what dance/trance music you like, this will NOT be your cup of tea/coffee/other heated drink. However, what we have to remember is that for the masses, this will be a very good CD to listen to; I played all three CD's at my last house party and this one went down a treat. Why? Because when your drunk, this is the kind of tacky music you want to listen and dance too. Thats right, this CD is tacky, and we all love a bit of tack don't we?
Onto the Gatecrasher CD.
This is the standard deal from Gatecrasher, some good songs, some good songs remixed into better songs, and some utterly dire songs. As a Gatecrasher CD it rates at the stars I've given it, 4* at best, there are much, much MUCH better ones out there, but for what it's worth, its worth the money. The strong point of this CD are the first 6 tracks, which mix in quite well and all are good to listen too. If your a Gatecrasher fan, I would indeed recommend this buy.
And finally, Pasha.
Much like the Gatecrasher CD it has some good aspects, and some poor aspects too. In particular the first 4 tracks of this CD are listenable, for my own personal taste I'm not to fond of them, but my partner likes it. As trance and dance music goes, this CD is a bit of a let-down, as it does not have the tacky-but-likeable factor of the Cream CD nor the number (albeit quite small number) of good tracks on the Gatecrasher CD.
So the overall product.
The CD case itself is damaged very easily, but it protects the CD's well enough. The music quality of the tracks is as high as you would expect, but the mixing in of tracks leaves something to be desired. If you are an avid fan of Trance/Dance music and are quite picky about what you listen to, steer clear from this product. However, the most important aspect of this album is that it appeals to a large number of consumers, you can whack on any three of the CD's at a party and people will enjoy it. Does it uplift you and entrance you? No, but its a good laugh to listen to. All in all, this is NOT a serious album, but it is worth the money.
