Product details

Product Description

The Golden Half camera is named so for a very good reason it uses regular 35mm film, but takes up only half a frame per photo, thus producing two images in the space of one. That means you can get up to 48 pictures on a 24 exposure roll, and up to 72 on a 36 exposure roll. In short, it's a 'half camera' that can take twice the number of photos with ordinary film. Another trait that makes it different from other cameras is its standard vertical format.

fun camera and easier to produce good images than holga 20 Sep 2010

Durability:    Fun:
This is a fun camera. It's easy to use, it's small, so you can take it with you everywhere, there's a hotshoe, so if you have a small flash (i have the colorsplash), it works perfectly.

The other thing that I like about it, is that it made good images the first time out. I've gotten on a bent trying different cheap and toy cameras, and have had difficulty getting good pictures from many of the cameras, esp. the Holga. I don't even want to confess to how many rolls I've run through a Holga, only to see the finished product and throw them all away. This camera is set up on the same premise, a fixed shutter speed and a fixed aperture (well, there's a couple of settings to adjust aperture) and a plastic lens, so I can't explain the reason why I get better results with the half frame.

the lab I took it to didn't know what to do with the film, so they initially rejected it, saying that they can only process 35mm film (!). After a brief explanation, they printed them just fine, no problem.

Fun 17 Nov 2011

This camera is fun, compact, and just cool looking. I love using this half-frame camera, it conjures carefree photographs that just let you explore and not worry about the perfect composition. I also love the relationships that the frames make with each other. Two random pictures when place side by side create a whole new unexpected result! If you want to try something fun and new, this is the camera for you!!!

Toy Camera 29 July 2010

Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This camera is very unique. It takes 72 pictures on one roll of 35 mm film.
Its a toy camera so its not COMPLETELY reliable. Taking pictures with film cameras, I have learned more lighting and composition.
It comes with a wrist strap, camera lens protector, instructions, the golden half camera and a roll of 35 mm film.
I had trouble putting the film in but I soon figured it out. I have yet to develop the pictures.

The design (stripes and circle design) started coming off, and the camera didnt even get much use or get scratched at all.
