Product Description

* The return of the best-selling Super Funk series from BGP. 20 tracks of super-rare funk, 13 previously unreleased.

* Of the seven issued titles, Betty Gouche's is one of the most in-demand records of the moment, having been championed by Ian Wright. Also highly regarded is the Jim Pipkin, James Brown-alike `Walking The Duck', while the Eternal Flames' record would set you back hundreds of pounds. The other four are in-demand and none could be bought for less than £100.

* The unissued tracks include an instrumental version of the break-beat classic `I Got Some', perfect for producers wanting to swipe the beat. There's a strong chunk of gospel funk from Dorothy Norwood, gems from the Music City and Dave Hamilton vaults and a scorching slice of southern fried sister funk `Talk Is Cheap' by an unknown soul singer.

* Perhaps the biggest coup is finding an unreleased track by the great, but sadly under-recorded Linda Lyndell.

* ON LIMITED DOUBLE-VINYL TOO

A strong focus on unreleased and ultra rare funk means there are some occasional tunes that are a bit too odd to really succeed as dancefloor killers, but overall it's another fine collection and contained hardly anything I'd heard before (although the 'alternative' version of SOUL's 'Burning Spear' is so close to the original it's kind of redundant). Great liner notes too.

Great mix of unknown funk 2 May 2013
By Ricky For Real - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Vinyl Verified Purchase
This album keeps the funk and soul grooves going one after another. I have a pretty broad knowledge of music and I have never heard of a single one of the artists on this collection. They all have created some amazing songs here and deserve to be included in the canon of funk/soul classic singles. The music is so obscure that a sweet gem called "Talk is Cheap" is actually credited to "Unknown". Bring on the horns, roll out the piano, feel the vibe and keep the party going. Yes.
