Quite simply the best crochet book I have! Buy it, you won't be disappointed. I've looked through quite a few Amigurumi style pattern books and this one beats the others hands down. You can tell the author really loved making these designs. Each character is beautifully pictured and given a whimsically funny back-story that links it to some of the other designs, so the book is a pleasure to read as well as to crochet from. Everyone I've shown it to has been captivated.
The patterns include farm animals (chickens, goat, cow, etc), a couple of people, pet animals (mice, guinea pig, cat, dog, fish, etc), exotic animals (koala, emu, lion, alpaca, etc) and even a short Christmas section (reindeer, fairy, etc). There's not a single duff creation in the book, and the instructions are easy to follow. If you want to duplicate the effect achieved exactly then it's easy to get the yarns used (mostly Rowan), and the patterns are in UK English so there's no confusion over terminology.
If you're an absolute beginner you'll probably need a helping hand, but anyone who can manage plain double crochet should have no trouble, so long as you remember to use a marker for the beginning of the rounds.

This is a gem of a book. The pictures are lovely and the instructions are clear and easy to follow. The featured toys are very cute and very varied, from alpacas to spiders with " bling" and lots of cuties in between. The book is very attractive to both look at and read. My "craft wary" daughter was so taken with it that I gave her a quick lesson and in just two days she made two of the little toys much to the suprise and delight of her husband and children. Her only crochet project previously is a blanket which she started at uni. and remains lurking in a carrier bag! As her birthday is coming up a she has asked me for a copy of the book for her present which I have bought for her. From Amazon of course. It is enjoyable for practiced crochet fans and easy enough for beginniners

This book is gorgeous. All the creatures have a little quirky back story, like Alan the Lion who is in a Ska band, or the Australian bears or Melody the ballet dancing kitten who is in love with the afore mentioned Alan! The stitches are pretty easy and the creations come to life quickly. I love this book and would recommend it to any crocheter or would-be crocheter.
