5.0 out of 5 stars Great choice for upgrade, 14 May 2010
This review is from: Super Talent 1.3 inch 16GB miniPCIe MLC Solid State Drive for Acer Aspire One (Personal Computers)
Doesn't compare to other top-notch ssd drives (e.g. ocz vertex), but a good upgrade for using windows on the Acer Aspire One aoa 110w 8GB linux edition. The system is not blazing fast responsive with windows on, comparing to the linux OS but one can use all the windows programs. The fit is perfect, it screws directly in the place of the old ssd drive. Attention when removing the zif cable from the old drive-it is glued on it, but it can be reused easily on the new ssd drive. After the upgrade if a blank screen appears a bios update is required.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent upgrade, 13 Mar 2011

When the original 8GB SSD on my Aspire One failed over a year ago I purchased this replacement. It is a direct swap for the old SSD though opening up the netbook and changing the unit requires a certain amount of care. I would recommend Googling beforehand and checking out the RAM replacement guides that can be found online and which have photos showing how to take the machine to bits.

Once fitted, the SSD was recognised automatically by the BIOS and I installed Ubuntu 10.04 which I have been using happily ever since. Operation is noticeably more snappy than with the original Samsung SSD. Thoroughly recommended !

5.0 out of 5 stars Tricky to install, but worth the effort, 10 Jan 2011
This review is from: Super Talent 1.3 inch 16GB miniPCIe MLC Solid State Drive for Acer Aspire One (Personal Computers)
I bought this as a replacement for the existing 8GB solid state drive which I found rather slow and prone to long pauses.

To fit this drive requires disassembling pretty much the entire computer, which although initially a bit daunting is something I managed in about 40 mins. It might be a good idea to watch an instructional video from the internet before deciding if it's something you're comfortable attempting yourself.

All I can say is that it was well worth it! This machine is now much faster and the annoying pauses seem to have gone. Very happy!
