Super Talent 1.3 inch 32GB Mini PCIe MLC for Acer Aspire One Solid State Drive
If you have the Acer Aspire One 8gb ssd version, this is an essential upgrade. There is a 16gb version but for a bit more, the 32gb version is more usable. I have put in win 7 professional, ms office, and some other programs and still have half the space left. The 16gb version would otherwise be nearly full by now.
Speed wise, it's no comparison. You can't even install win 7 without this.
Even if you are happy with Linux, this gives a lot more working space. The drive is expensive for what is essentially a small size but being SSD, that's the price for these for now. SSDs will come down in price (as any tech items) but not anytime soon as it's very popular.

Upgrading the Acer Aspire One 110L with this SSD isn't the easiest operation, but it sure does make a big difference on usability. For anyone attempting this I would suggest using theregister guide to RAM upgrade [...] which has a nice step-by-step to taking the unit apart. I did the memory upgrade a long while back, but couldn't remember all the steps. I would also suggest printing out a copy of the image of the underneath and the top with keyboard removed, use double-sided sticky tape to mark where the screws are and then stick them in place on the print-out to keep track of the screws. Perfect upgrade for Acer Aspire with original 8 gb SSD

If you can carefully follow the instructional videos by "tnkgrl" on modding the acer aspire one,
you should have no trouble installing this upgrade. Following her videos, I installed this SSD and it worked beautifully the first time. (My original ssd had failed). This one (Super Talent FEM32GF13M) fits exactly into the holder, no mods needed, and the ZIF cable can be reused in the install. (Unlike tnkgrl, I left the emi core on the ZIF cable). I also installed more RAMAcer Aspire One (AOA150) 1GB Memory Ram Upgrade (A-Tech Brand). and replaced the wifi card with a dual band "n" card Intel 4965AGN_MM1 Wireless WiFi Link Mini PCIe Adapter, as long as it was disassembled. Reloaded with Ubuntu Linux i386 vers 9.10, and now my little netbook is as fast as any entry level notebook. Added a 32gb SD card Transcend 32 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS32GSDHC6, now I have 60gb of solid state storage, a lot more rugged than installing a 1.8 hard drive, and uses less battery. When I need more storage I plug in a 64gb flash drive. Best of all - I can travel light, compute fast, store a lot of data, and 12 hrs battery time with a 9 cell installed.Aspire One Battery 9-cell 7900mAh Netbook Battery Lasts up to 12:10 Hours Longer Than the 3 or 6 Cells Acer Aspire One Battery - Color: Black

Big improvement - but know what you're doing.

With the installation of this upgraded flash memory module, the performance of my Acer Aspire One improved dramatically. It's still not as fast as a higher end laptop, but it's faster than the typical hard drives in lower end machines - and WAY faster than the anemic 8GB memory module it came with.
Warning though - you have to remove about 20 screws and carefully disassemble the machine, including three ribbon cables, to install this. If you have to think to remember which way to turn a screwdriver, don't attempt it. However, if you know what you're doing, it's not that hard. It took me about a half hour. It was my second time though - I added a 1GB RAM module when I bought the machine over a year ago.
If you get this, get a 1GB memory module too, and install it at the same time. with 1.5GB of RAM and 32GB of fast flash, the AA1 runs Win7 Home Premium just fine.

Best option to revive an Acer Aspire One with slow SSD

I bought 2 of these to improve the performance of my 2 AOA 110 netbooks. I thought I could handle the slow original SSDs in the netbooks but it wasn't long before 1 turned into an expensive print server and the other the backup for the first.
After reading about the many time and effort intensive options for fixing the slow hard drive problem, I finally came across a site that recommended the Super Talent 32GB product. It seemed to be the best option. The install was a lot more involved than expected but "tnkgrl"s video online on how to disassemble the machine, swap parts and put it back together was invaluable (type "tnkgrl aspire one" into google). As others have mentioned, it doesn't make any sense to go to all the trouble of installing this product without upgrading the ram at the same time.
Unlike the other upgrades out there, this product at 1.3 inches fits right into the stock screw mounts and nothing has to be physically modified. The existing cables etc. will fit exactly onto this unit with no modification.
The performance now is absolutely incredible. With a full install (off CD, not a modified version) of XP Home SP3, the computer now takes less than 30 seconds from pressing the on button to being ready for use.
* note that this product should be used as a solution to people who bought Acer Aspire One units with the 1.3" solid state hard drive - later models with 2.5" 5400RPM drives don't need this or should be upgraded to 2.5" SSDs
