I bought “Super Salads” first and I liked it very much, so I decided to try this one too and I don’t regret it at all. I tried several recipes and all of them were very easy and real winners! The book is divided into several chapters according to the different benefits the soups are supposed to bring (Immune-Boosting, Circulation, Good Mood, Winter-Warming and so on). There are also two “basic” chapters, one for soup basics, i.e. different kinds of stocks, if you really want to make them at home, and one for garnishes, which contains very interesting ideas for “things” to float in your soup.
Lots of nutritional information is provided, in a nice and interesting way; even if you are don’t believe these soups can cure anything, it is interesting to know what you are eating. But, and I think I didn’t stress it enough, these soups taste wonderful! This is what you expect from a cookbook, I guess, and this is a very good one.
As all the other “Mitchell Beazley” books I own, the object in itself is very nice, the layout is clear, colourful and different, it could make a nice present.
Highly recommended.

What nutritional fun! 19 Jun 2011
By M. J. Robinson TOP 500 REVIEWER
Super book to look at let alone the nutritional recipes! Just looking at the photos of the soups is enough to get the digestive juices flowing! Easy-to-follow recipes. Every recipe has clear nutritional advice on vitamins, minerals and the benefits neatly presented in different type weights for emphasis under the recipe. You have to admire the art of the publisher as well as the nutritional expertise of Van Straten. A joy to read.

What is particularly beguiling is that each section gives an idea of the benefit of each soup for the mind, body or spirit. So looking at the contents page you can take your pick from 'circulation soups', 'immune-boosting soups', 'good-mood soups' (my favourite in this category is spicy spinach soup full of folic acid and B vitamins to lift the spirit!), 'slimming soups' and 'sexy soups'! These are to name but a few.

There's advice on making home-made stocks and the basic equipment you need at the beginning and a comprehensive list of common ailments and the soups that help at the back of the book.

'Souper!' And fun to make. You may never turn to solid food again.
