This is a nice set of songs that bring the R&B vibe strong! The music is mid/slow tempo with some soulful sides as well as her all too famous ones from her past albums! While she left some out the ones she chose were definitely smooth, classy, and well produced. If you love soft ballads, soothing melodies of love, and classy styles then this is for you!
Each song has a meaning sung very emotionally and nice in vocal pitch --never harsh for the ears or out of range. She has songs like "The First Night" displaying how sometimes getting down on the first night is not the way to go.
Although, I enjoyed all the tracks, the ones that stood out to me most would be "For You I Will" since it has such sweet words. The meaning behind the song is so powerful as it offers a shoulder to cry on, "I will be the sun in your sky... for you I will... Know these arms won't let you down..." This is the classic Whitney song that gives Monica that special elegance few possess.
Another favorite would be "Misty Blue" since it reminds me of the Southern styles of Georgia Love Songs Etta James as well as the New Orleans vibe of blues and jazz. Her voice sounds absolutely flawless displaying lots of depth of emotion and a much more different vocal pitch not as smooth but in the lines of Keyshia Cole, Faith Evans, and Mary J Blige.
"Tell Me If You Still Care" is a very mellow R&B track with a nice chorus along Monica's soft vocals and beautiful musical accompaniment. It embraces the questions of love so many ask like, "Tell me if you still care about me... tell me that you care..." The deeper singing is quite remarkable.
To name one more I'd say, "Ain't Gonna Cry No More" as it displays the strong lover who will stand firm rather than crumble after a lover has done no good. "...I ain't gonna cry no more because you don't deserve me...I ain't even gonna talk about it and don't forget to leave my keys..." Her soulfulness is quite admirable as she maintains her sound listener friendly yet very strong in attitude!
In this crazy world where time is lost fast it's always refreshing to say "Let me slow down" and listen to a CD that has music positive for the soul and strong in meaning. It can be so easy to get caught up with the moment and forget the most important things in life but this selection will remind you just how valuable the things we take for granted are --like love, feeling happy with what you have, believing--having faith, but most of all loving yourself!
