This is another old LP replacement which I have been searching for. I love this group and if you like this style of music you will love this. Buzz.

OK, where do I start? First of all, I had never heard of the Clancy Brothers before I got this album, so I cannot say how it compares to their other albums.
The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem was an Irish folk music band that was really popular in the 1960s, and it is easy to see why. This album is a mixed-bag of different songs. There is the fun and freewheeling Irish Rover and The Jug of Punch, the soulful Jennifer Gentle, the Irish-patriotic Patriot Game and A Nation Once Again. I found it to be a fun and catchy collection that I love listening to over and over again. My favorite songs on the album were definitely Jennifer Gentle and Fare Thee Well Enniskillen.
So, if you want a nice little album (only ten songs), with that nice Irish folk sound, then this is an album you should consider. Yes, it is short, but the price is right. I love this album, and highly recommend it!

says who? 29 Jan 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I'm not sure who chose this particular compilation, or what standard they used, but it really doesn't come close to representing these boys at their best. Of the (only) ten songs offered, perhaps only one (the Jug of Punch) could be considered one of their best. The songs can all be found on other Clancy compilations, with a slew of better songs accompanying them.

What a joke! 16 July 2005
By P. DEHOLCZER - Published on Amazon.com

Ten songs! What a joke! What a low-value compilation of a great group. The record company ought to be ashamed. They probably wonder why no one buys the group's music anymore -- because the company releasing the music has no real interest in the music or honoring it or pleasing the fans. They have not even figured out that they are losing money doing such shoddy compilations. When they do, we will be able to buy real albums -- rereleases of albums or serious compilations of music released by these legends of folk music.

Great Clancy CD 30 Jan 2008
By J. Michael - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This is an excellent CD by the greatest Irish folk band ever- bar none. I give it 4 stars only because it has a mere 10 tracks and because a couple of songs can't honestly be categorized as "Super Hits" (e.g. Jennifer Gentle, Leaving of Liverpool). As for the rest, most are indeed "super hits", highlights being Rising of the Moon, Irish Rover, the West's Awake, and the Patriot Game (which includes the verse about Connolly, which the Clancys have sometimes left out, but not the one about De Valera, which has been Clancy policy). I'm sure there are better and more expanded compilations out there, but this is an excellent album nonetheless.
