Product Description

Stand-up comedian and former Stoner of the Year*, Doug Benson brings you the hilarious film, Super High Me, in which he looks at the current situation with medical marijuana in California and the recent explosive growth in legal dispensaries in Los Angeles. All captured on film, Doug smokes, eats and vaporises marijuana for thirty consecutive days in order to get Super High . But there is a catch - first Doug must go thirty days without any marijuana and undertake a number of tests in an effort to find out what marijuana does and how it really affects people. Along the way Doug performs across the US and hangs out with fellow celebrities Sarah Silverman, Bob Odenkirk and Dave Navarro creating a hilarious look at a controversial subject..

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad 30 Nov 2012
By Connart
Format:DVD
I watched this film after seeing "supersize me" and whilst knowing it was a "parody" of supersize me I was still expecting a lot more, I could go on and nit0pick how bad this film was, or what annoyed me, but the other 1 star review here has said exactly what i would have said.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just awful 4 Mar 2012
By Straightforward TOP 500 REVIEWER

I regret buying this so much - even doing this review is a chore, because there are bsolutely no redeeming qualities to it at all; the only reason I'm forcing myself to relive the experience is so that no-one else will have to go through it.

Let's get the premise out of the way first: This is a described as a 'parody' of Super Size Me , a serious attempt to see what would happen if you ate nothing but McDonalds for 30 days, which given the uncomfortable nature of the results, was very funny at times. Ironically, Super High Me has comedic intentions, but has NO laughs; it's NOT a parody - it just uses the same format and tries to jump on the back of the original's success; they have little else to add.

We follow Dave Benson as he gets stoned for 30 days, 24/7. First though, he has to go 30 days without it, which takes up at least half the film. It's telling that Benson found this more difficult than being stoned. Having put up with his endless whinging throughout this section, we finally get to see what happens when he is forced to smoke it all day every day...

What happens - does he, though the process of having too much of a good thing, get put off it at all? No. Is there a serious attempt to examine the effects on his body and mind? Well his doctor features throughout, but there's no real focus on what he says in any serious way. The answer is that NOTHING happens; it's easy for him - he's used to smoking all day anyway.

It all sounds like something hardly worth giving a 1-star review to though, doesn't it? Well let me try to explain why:

Doug Benson is incredibly irritating. He thinks he is very funny and very clever.

4.0 out of 5 stars humorous angle on a serious subject 2 Aug 2014
Format:Amazon Instant Video
It's funny. If you like his kind of humour. If you don't like his comedy, as some reviewers do not, then you won't enjoy it... Simple as that. I've never seen him before but he made me chuckle a few times.

To expect a serious medical experiment is ridiculous, it is only 1 individual for one month so the effects would never be statistically significant. To take the doctor's findings seriously is to miss the point.

The film was more about legalisation of cannabis than of the effects of smoking a lot of pot and it was a humorous way to bring attention to an interesting subject.

2.0 out of 5 stars Overrated 18 Mar 2012
By Carva
Format:DVD
Maybe living in Amsterdam for 10 years has made me numb to the idea that smoking pot is so f***ing awesome by itself, but it just didn't do it for me. There is no real science involved, the "experiments" that are being conducted are not groundbreaking (not even in the humor department).

Rated 2/5 because 1/5 suggests I hated it. I don't hate it; I just don't care for it, which probably makes it worse.
