Granny Smith is a sweet old lady living a sedate life in the Scottish coastal town of Chisleton. Then, one day, she is accidentally struck by a stray beam from Inventor Black s magic ray machine and transformed into Supergran possessor of amazing powers, superhuman strength, and even a magic flycycle ! These she puts to great use in the fi ght against Chisleton s local villain, The Scunner Campbell, and his nasty cohorts; though with Supergran s miraculous abilities, defeating the baddies is not usually too much of a challenge! Super Gran returns with another series, as the Granny with amazing powers continues to battle evil in the form of the Scunner and his various partners-in-crime.
Watching these episodes really takes me back. This is an exceptional TV show, is also the kind of kids' series which anybody of any age can watch and enjoy. As with the first series there are well-written, funny storylines and a wealth of guest stars and cameos. Highlights include a circus on its last legs, a promising racing pigeon and a treasure hunt. The Scunner's exploits see him stranded on a desert island, joining the RAF, trying to con his way into an inheritance and going on a game show presented by the hilariously obnoxious Cecil Smarm.
If there is one slight drawback it's that digital technology could have been used on a few of the episodes. One of them looks like an old worn-out video recording. But that's just a minor complaint. This DVD is a must for children and adults alike. Oh, and keep Newcastle Brown away from the kiddies.

Essential viewing when I was younger and great fun to re-visit them again
All the regulars are back.

I had been looking for this series on dvd for years. My daughter enjoyed this programme when it was on T.V.many years ago and I wondered whether my grandchildren would enjoy it too. Although the quality is not as sharp as todays fims are and maybe it seems a little old fashioned,it does not detract from the fun aspect of this childrens entertainment.My grandchildren who are 4 and 7, really enjoyed it and we now have Super Gran volume 1 and 2.
