5.0 out of 5 stars Life-Changing 9 Jan 2009
Format:Paperback
This is one book that every women should read. The content is easy to read and hard to put down. The author recommends reading each chapter and digesting the information then trying out her exercises before moving onto the next chapter. I know it's easy to think that after reading one scenario that we are familiar with we don't need to try out the recommendations, but I think it's worthwhile doing them. Anyone who is uncertain about where their future is going should read this book. We live in a world where bullying is second nature to alot of people and the guidance given in this book is mind-blowing. Even if you feel that you are already a confident person this book is a worthwhile read because confident people don't always realise that sometimes they are in fact over-confident and this can be a really negative quality in a person. Happy reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Gael Lindenfield Classic 7 Aug 2009
Format:Paperback
One of Lindenfield's orginal books, this still remains a higly relevant and helpful book to anyone (not just women) wishing to increase their confidence.

Her clarity of perception about the problems that people face with confidence is excellent as are the constructive exercises to help the reader.

Her style is very easy and engaging and written with enthusiasm and empathy. Thank goodness she understands her readers so well and never descends into infuriating psychobabble.

I feel that Lindenfield has two special qualities that make her such a helpful writer: her understanding of the reader's needs and the fact that she herself has had to overcome many difficulties in her own life.

Her writing style is that of a professional friend and it is easy to understand why her books and workshops are popular.

3.0 out of 5 stars An appreciated gift by all friends and family! 13 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback
I purchased several copies of this book (from Amazon and others) to distribute them as Christmas gifts to the women in my family and also to selected friends.

They liked the book's layout and the excercises were useful and easy to follow. I can already see the change in the women whose confidence is beginning to increase through their verbal communication. Even their outlook about their life experiences have changed to a more positive one. They now display a devil-may-care attitude which is refreshing for their children and their husbands too!

I myself think the first edition where Gael speaks of her own experiences and hardship, was far better and far more inspiring. It was written as a friend telling another friend to 'snap out of it'! (It was a blue cover with yellow or white text...and cartoons inside!). This new edition, reads like a self-help book with bullet points...very formal).
I'd have liked to get hold of the old version with a new shiny cover so that I could hand those out as gifts!

Nevertheless, Gael's book was very helpful to the women around me so a thumbs up! Thanks. :)
