Format:Audio CD
Excellent. Not a duff track on the entire thing.
Yes, Joe has mellowed out a bit and some of the tracks are getting a bit jazzy but so what. This is superb stuff and not to be missed. Excellent production values and played through a decent system ROCKS!
Many people who have heard Super Colossal have asked who it was and have gone out and got a copy even if I had to write SATRIANI down on a bit of paper for them.
Track 13, Crowd Chant, is a bit of work aimed at the fans, designed as an audience participation number which it must be said is rare for an instrumental band. I certainly cannot wait to see Joe on his impending UK tour where that has got to bring the house down.
Anyway once again Joe is back on form and we guitar stranglers and wannabee shredders can only say this: We are unworthy.

After being a massive fan of Joe's work for about 15 years I was a little disappointed at his output during the whole 'Engines Of Creation' phase. Fearing that was the way forward I anxiously bought Is There Love In Space and Strange Beautiful Music which were both improvements. This album however is a different prospect altogether.
I questioned whether he could return to the sort of form that brought us Extremist and Crystal Planet, but I was convinced after the first listen!
This is some of his best work of all time. If you want ear bleeding Malmsteen-esque speed thrash nonsense then look elsewhere. This album is a work of art. Beautiful melodies abound in tracks like The Meaning Of Love which will transport you back to Surfing and Flying, the albums that made Satch truly great.
'A Cool New Way'? I don't think so. A Cool Old Way is a better way to describe it. This album is a reminder to us all that Satriani is simply THE best. Buy it and you will not be disappointed.

This is a nice surprise - a Joe Satriani album with almost no duff tracks. Refreshing absence of widdly guitar and metal bombast, just good licks, interesting variations in tone and rhythm and (dare I say it)nice tunes. Track 5 stands out as very radio friendly, with a particularly good solo; I hit repeat every time when listening to this- its a really uplifting mood changer.If you like the Satriani style of "Always with Me Always with You, off Surfing with the Alien, you will like this album a lot. It should also be of interest to Eric Johnson fans.
Highly recommended.

Not bad at all
Slightly more flowery than us Satriani devotees are used to, this is nonetheless a highly enjoyable selection of guitar-based power chord offerings.

Going through the motions
This, I'm afraid is a bit too "same old, same old". For those who understand what I'm saying, this is more like The Shadows than Jeff Beck and not in a good way.
