Top Customer Reviews

Having successfully mined the cheesey end of 1970s pop with their Super 70s series, EMI Virgin have now turned their attention to the deep pool of rock talent that was around then and have scored a definite bullseye.
From Free's "All Right Now" at the start of the decade to the Undertones' "Teenage Kicks" at the end, all relevant bases are covered to give an excellent snapshot of what great music there was available thirty years ago. And, while most of the population over a certain age will doubtless already have most of these tracks salted away somewhere on vynil LPs, it is nice to have a collection like this for use in the car or when hosting a party. It is also sobering to think that they could easily fill another triple CD set with the bands they've omitted from this one.
Except for the New Wave or punk(ish) bands, which are kept to CD3, the running order is fairly random; at first it is a little odd to hear Ike & Tina Turner sandwiched between Edgar Winter and Nazareth. (By the way we do get the full version of Winter's "Frankenstein", rather than the truncated two and a bit minutes on some previous collections. And if anyone is wondering, it is the "cherry cola" version of the Kinks' "Lola".)
Great music, great nostalgia, great fun.

ah...the 70s.The formative years of my musical education, and still no greater rock and pop music has been produced. This wonderful set has 60 totally unforgettable moments, the baby boomers of the over 50s(like me!) will love this. From queen to kate bush, there are so many memories here. With classic tracks from genesis, focus, alice, faces,t rex, family, roxy, and the amazing"drive in saturday" by bowie, this should be in every rock fans collection.its even got "money" by pink floyd on it!The only glaring omissons seem to be slade and sweet, but i like to see the doughnut not the hole!look its cheap on amazon ,buy it!

I have a lot of compliation CD's , but I found this a particularly good purchase as it is packed full of classics and not being filled after track 3 more obscure hits from this decade as some compliations are, Excellent driving choice.
