The multi-function one-size-fits-all SATA/IDE adapter I bought prior to this simply didn't work with my old laptop SATA drive. I didn't expect much from this box, given the price, but as long as it made the connection, I'd have been happy.
This is actually a pretty well made item. It's an all-metal construction. The two covers unclip to remove them, released by a single button on one end. The panel fit is very good.
It includes a dual-USB to mini-USB power/data lead, 4 screws to secure the drive, even a suitable screwdriver to tighten the screws. There's a plastic sheet inside to insulate the control board from the case plus a leatherette wallet to keep it in. I honestly can't see how this could be improved. Oh and it works too!!

I bought this on a whim to house the hard drive of my previous dead laptop. I was surprised to find that it works great, and for such a low price too! I managed to retrieve my old files and now I use it as a game storage drive. Its fast USB connection allows rapid access to files, it came with the necessary cable and works just like any other external drive.
Easy to assemble and use, while also appearing subtle and sleek, I would recommend it to anyone who needs an enclosure for this type of drive.

This little enclosure enabled the HDD from a defunct Dell laptop to be used for external backups. It is a very neat unit, easy to assemble, and includes screws and screwdriver to fix the drive in the case - also the connecting USB lead with twin plugs for those computers with limited power per USB port.
