All these tracks were recorded in 1971/72, which is my favourite period of Townes' career, and most of the tracks appear in different form on 'High, Low and In Between' and 'The Late Great Townes van Zandt'. CD1 features studio sessions with full backing, while CD2 mostly features just Townes and his guitar. The quality of the recordings and performances is excellent, and even if you own the two aforementioned albums, you are going to want to have this too. There are also two songs I've never heard of before, including the title track, which are great and two early versions of Dead Flowers. This is definitely the most important Townes release since 'In the Beginning'. A 'must have' for Townes collectors and a great introduction for those new to his music.
