As the item description doesn't make this clear, it's worth mentioning that this is the screenplay, not a novelisation of the film. It's accompanied by an interesting introduction by Alex Garland, and followed by a brief selection of storyboards and concept sketches (maybe a dozen pages in all) in black and white. It's nice to see what changes were made between this version of the script and shooting, and it provides an insight into the intended symbolism of the piece, but it may be worth waiting for a more comprehensive treatment. A coffee table book like The Art of the Matrix is a bit much to hope for, but it would be a nice complement to a film which depends so heavily on amazing images.

I had to rate the book with 5 stars as per se it is great. This book is the movie script and as far as its reading I am enjoying it very much...I just wasn't expecting it when i bought it. As for "Alien" and other sci-fi books which have been made into a movie, I thought "Sunshine" was actually a piece of narrative, a novel. The fact that it isn't WAS NOT SPECIFYED ANYWHERE IN THE DESCRIPTION!!! Luckily I do voicing over and acting so I can actually read the book and have good fun, however IT WOULD BE MORE CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTATED IF THE PUBLISHER WOULD DESCRIBE ON AMAZON THAT "SUNSHINE" IS A SCREENPLAY!

Sunshine is a triumph of Sci-Fi filmmaking and the screenplay is a great read.

It's great fun to see how the original screenplay differs from the Danny Boyle film and the book gives some extra background information that was missing from the film (I particularly like the subtle little parts like Searle finding a novel written in Chinese aboard Icarus one which was left open on a bunk)

The only disapointing aspect of the film for me was a lack of detailed explanation as to what happened to the crew of Icarus one and although that is still not throughly explained in the book it does add more detail to that aspect of the story.

It seems the filmakers made very few changes from the original screenplay but they did make some, sometimes for better sometimes for worse.

Overall very good and a 'must read' for fans of the film
