3.0 out of 5 stars Can't finish it..... 20 Mar 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I downloaded this book because of the rave reviews - i am a total bookworm and read all the time and when i started reading this book i was hooked, however im about half way through and i havent touched the book in days - if fact ive read 5 other books and still not gone back to this one, instead looking for something else to download. i dont know what it is that has put me off specifically i loved it in the beginning but it seems to have dropped off half way through, the two main characters have got together and i know there is stuff to come but i just cant be bothered to carry on reading it - which is something i never say about books - maybe its the rules that the female vamp has come up with i think the way she has decided a list of rules that her new partner must live by has really put me off her character - that said i am only half way through and i will make myself read the rest of the book at some point - but i just wanted to be honest i was really dissapointed when i got bored and wanted others to not expect the world when reading this book......maybe ill update this when i do finish the book but im still trying to find what the other reviewers loved so much.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed 27 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am an avid reader and Vampire books have taken my fancy for a while. I downloaded this for my Kindle after reading the rave reviews, that and it was only 70p. However, after a promising start it really slowed down and got VERY boring. I found the repetative use of the word "smirk" really got on my nerves and when I got to halfway through the book I starting skim reading to get to the end of it.

The ending, if it can be called that, was a bit something and nothing.

Overall a disapointing read after finding so many gems of books either free or very cheap, after getting my kindle a few weeks ago.

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing 26 Mar 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I really wanted to like this book but i just couldnt manage it. i found it rather dull. I kept reading it hoping it would peak my interest but i only managed half the book then decided to stop. Maybe it got better as it went into the second half of the book but i honestly dont think so. I found the characters really annoying and the story too slow moving for me.

Could only get to half way through! I didn't see the point, and I thought the characters were really weak.

2.0 out of 5 stars poor 24 May 2013

Disappointed with this novel. The premise was ok, but it was poorly written with shallow irritating characters.
Gave up which is unusual.

1.0 out of 5 stars I barely finished reading the sample 19 Jun 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
It started off really well, I liked that Amber was going to end her life as you dont see that often in vampire novels. However after that point it went downhill for me. The romance felt flat and predictable and the heroine was a bit up herself e.g. He needs somebody better, someone like me- there was that part among other things that put me off the protagonist and this was just from reading the sample.
It's a good job that the novel is only 70p to buy as some may be disappointed if they purchase it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unconventional 13 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I enjoyed this book. It is based on a good idea, in that the female is the "alpha", and she frequently comes to the rescue of the rather hapless male. Believing that I'm a modern woman I thought I might embrace the concept, but in the end it didn't work as well as more traditional man/woman/vampire roles. She was forever pinning him down to the bed and being bossy and domineering and I have to say that side of it left me cold!

One further criticism....the writer overused "smirked" and "smiled slyly"...I wish I had managed to keep score but both words were used on average at least once on each and every page of the book.

Overall a good effort, but certain elements of it fell short for me....but maybe because I'm just an old fashioned girl at heart!

2.0 out of 5 stars Started off well and just went downhill..... 9 May 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Initially I bought this for my kindle as it was cheap and it was about vampires, always good for me. Unfortunately it started off really well but got so boring about halfway through I couldn't wait to finish it. I NEVER put down a book without finishing it if Ive started it - don't know why but I just can't do it - but I was very tempted with this one, which is a shame because at first it seemed really promising. I enjoyed the fact that the alpha vampire was female and the "weak, attractive human" was a man, but really there are just so many "lingering looks", "soft kisses", and "gentle touches" a person can stand - way too sloppy!!!
