She has done it once again - here we have KH at her angriest and most vulnerable, which for us means another excellent piece of work. Tracks like "Your Dirty Answer" and "37 Hours" remind us that she can still be as raw and rockin' as anytime with Throwing Muses, but then we are drawn into the underlying theme of the record, and the emotion and heart-on-sleeve lyrics of songs like "Summer Salt" and "Listerine" dig deep.
A nice surprise is the cover of Cat Stevens' "Trouble", which, far from sticking out, meshes well with her own achievements. An excellent album, her best since going it alone. Buy this, then work backwards through an amazing catalogue of work.

Kristin Hersh has now made an album which she can truly say is her's. Not that i'm saying her other album weren't "her's", but this is so honest, truthful and emotional that you cannot doubt it. I was privilaged to see her live recently, and the songs from this album which she played seemed to be the ones that she was most comfortable with.
She has the ability to condense her anger, frustration, love, fear and experiences into beautiful and incredibly emotional music. There are times when this album will hit you hard with such sadness and then others when it can sooth, sometimes even be uplifting.
A truly beautiful and honest album. A must-buy.

This is a great album - for fans of acoustic folk, its an essential that you should own. Kristin combines her unique, emotional, poppy folk style to superb effect. So we shimmering fingerpicked songs that resonate through her emotional, honest voice.
At times patchy, with a range of solo work and with The Throwing muses that sometimes hits the mark and sometimes misses, Sunny Border Blue is probably Kristin's only album to consistently excel alongside 2001's Hips and Makers..
un unknown classic and a real gem.
