5.0 out of 5 stars SUOER COOL CREATIVITY 15 Dec 2011
Format:Audio CD
This is the first Milt Jackson album I have owned and have been constantly enraptued by the superb playing and creativity - Jazz like Classical Music is one of the highest art forms. "What are you doing for the rest of your life" is a track on this album but the answer is perodically listening to this album - the other tracks are played with superb musicianship and are by turns subtle, complex and melodic. BUY THIS ALBUM - for your own sake.

Astrud Gilberto with Stanley Turrentine

5.0 out of 5 stars A teenage desire 11 July 2013
Format:MP3 Download|Verified Purchase
I spent weeks deliberating whether to buy this on vinyl when it came out and with my meagre pocket money I didn't. I wish I had. It is far better than a lot of the stuff I was buying at the time. It sounds a little dated now and of its time, but if you go with it, it is a joy. Sometimes the MJQ just got a little too samey for me, but this has a lot going for it, a great band with Milt Jackson working with the next two generations of jazz musicians and great recording from Rudy Van Gelder. I wish I'd bought that vinyl with the glorious cover. Ah well. Life's missed opportunities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunflower 13 Sep 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
40 years on this class Jazz album gets a reissue, with a excellent line up including Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Billy Cobham and Freddie Hubbard plus a full orchestra combine to make this a musical masterpiece. A sublime version of Sunflower has to be the stand out track on the album.

1.0 out of 5 stars not a happy Bunny 20 Feb 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Bought this album on the reviews here. When it come through the post I found it was not my bag. But i read the reviews again thought i might have missed something. I am a Bit Milt Jackson Fan . Big Hi Fi interest too. I run a Rocksan Kandy 2 system I today bought it a present a pair of monitor Audio Rs 1 speakers. I put this album on to give it benefit of the doubt. I am sat At my computer. my speaker about 18 inches away, and its not loud, but this album sounds horrible. In fact it got worse the more it went on. Sorry I do not know if its a cross between the recording limitations and i do not know if its vinyl transfer. But to me it fall flat. and it what ever it is, detracts from the music. and all I thought was how horrible it sounded. I found it in General a yawn. But that is only my opinion and thats what this is all about opinions. so do not be to mad at me for thinking this. So in all The quality of the recording how ever good you say the music is. Dose not do the music justice . I wish more people would write about the actual quality of the recordings they buy and whether it was vinyl transfers. I certainly would not have wasted my pennies on this.
