Product Description

Sunderland fans had waited 90 years to see their team notch up three successive victories over their North East rivals Newcastle United and, virtually from the first kick of the game, there was little doubt which team would triumph. Under the stewardship of head coach Gus Poyet, a rampant Sunderland team marched onto the St. James Park turf as if they owned it, taking the lead in the 19th minute and, from then on, never relinquished control. A Jack Colback rocket, 10 minutes from time, sealed the fate of the opposition - earning a 3-0 victory for Sunderland, in a season in which the Black Cats had already triumphed 2-1 over Newcastle. Sunderland took the lead thanks to the coolest of penalty strikes by Fabio Borini who converted after Vurnon Anita s bundled attempt to challenge Phil Bardsley resulted in a foul and, from then on, the Black Cats never looked back.
