Erasure "Tomorrow's World"

Biography

Following the disbandment of the short-lived synth pop group Yazoo, former Depeche Mode member Vince Clarke formed Erasure in 1985 with singer Andy Bell. Like Yaz and Depeche Mode, Erasure were a synth-based group, but they had stronger dance inclinations, as well as a sharper, more accessible sense of pop songcraft, than either of Clarke's previous bands. Furthermore, Erasure had the flamboyantly… Read more in Amazon's Erasure Store

I have to disagree with the review below. This is an amazing riot of a single with the most fanastic melody and wonderful synth wizardry of an arangement!
The Extended Mix is a sublime chunky electronics masterpiece and the Riff And Rays mix is a total hands in the air party masterpiece. If your feeling down this song will lift your spirits!! Thank god for Erasure!!

bought this single as (some would call me sad) I buy all Erasures releases religiously. I'm a massive fan of all their work, but don't let my self confessed madness put you off.

Sunday Girl is a fantastic, upbeat and uplifting track. That said, the album version is better. Erasure sound as fresh and as young now as they did back in the 80's, only better. They have definately improved with age.

Although Sunday Girl is indeed a stomper of a track, so is the B side "Take Me on a Highway". Erasure have the knack of producing absolutely brilliant B sides and this is (in my opinion) one of their best. Another stomper of an upbeat track which is reminiscent of all their older stuff.

Sadly Sunday Girl only made number 33 in the charts - I've said this before in reviews. Great bands like Erasure, Depeche Mode etc who have been around for so long in comparision with most of the crap in the charts do not get the backing of major radio stations (Radio 1, etc) and TV music channels. This is a shame because Erasure are without doubt so much more talented than, Shane Ward, Leona Williams and the like. Maybe with a bit more airplay it would have done better. Perhaps maybe even done better if it had been released as a double A side with Take me on a highway which is a tad stronger than Sunday Girl. Think we should start a campaign to rename X-Factor and the like to "make me a one hit wonder!!!". Us Erasure fans should campaign to get Erasure back to the top of the charts where they belong.

Oh Dear! Poor! 11 Jun 2007

I've got my tickets to see Erasure in Septemebr. I could fall in love with you is the best single for a long time. And Light at the end of the world is simply fabulous. And then erasure drop the bobmbshelll...... Sunday Girl. Its average on the album at best but the single is simple miserable.

I only gave it 3 stars rather than 1 because i'm a fan and don't want to let the boys down!

And don't think the second disc is much better. The remixes are the worst EVER for an erasure single. Riffs & Rays, more like Rift & Raft.

I never thought i'd say it, AVOID!
