Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Faithless are actually a band of multiple faiths, both musical and spiritual, including Buddhism, hippy idealism and rave fanaticism. All these elements are sublimated into their dance sound, and after their mid-Nineties million-selling single "Insomnia", they were mistakenly dismissed as disposable Euro-house. The diversity of Sunday, 8pm gives the lie to this notion. It's galvanising dance music for sure, with big, overarching crowd-pleasing synth riffs courtesy of keyboardist Sister Bliss and non-performing Brian Wilson-style programmer Rollo. But then Boy George guests on "Why Go", a big ballad with a simple plea, while "Bring My Family Back" and "Take The Long Way Home" feature quietly intense, first-person raps reminiscent of Massive Attack, whose shadowy, ominous sense of melancholy is in evidence throughout the album. So when "God Is A DJ" breaks through the clouds and fills the dancefloor, it's more than just easy triumphalist hedonism; it is a blessed relief, a pleasure earned. --David Stubbs

This album is essential for music lovers everywhere. Many people think of 'Insomnia' or 'God is a DJ' as major Faithless tunes, however, I can assure you that there are plenty more far superior songs than those. With Dido being the sister of Rollo from Faithless, her fantastic backing tracks on this ensure that this is a perfect mix of funky and chilled as well as interesting and sad ('She's my Baby' being a perfect one for petrol heads and 'Why Go' for rejected lovers everywhere!). The bonus CD is just as amazing, with 'Thank you' being one of my favourites (not the Dido version!). In short, you'd be mad to miss both this and Reverence with the Irreverence bonus CD. The beauty is, that no matter what type of music you're into, you're bound to fall in love with a large majority of this cd!

chilled not beat 9 Mar 2001
Format:Audio CD
ditto to what the previous reviewer says. this album is more for chilling out to than reverence which had more beat, my picks would be take the long way home (seems everyone likes that track) and i want my family back. the album is actually quite sad, and a lot of the tunes sing of loss or need. but enough about that, you just want to hear it right? well if you don't own any Faithless i say buy Reverence first cos it is a little better. then buy this cos it is still good.

Rock on Faithless 16 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I found this album purely by chance and I am so glad that I bought it;the sheer perfection of Dido's voice combined with brilliant lyrics makes me want to listen to the album repeatedly. It has been on my stereo now almost non stop for the past 18 months. I am not obsessive, I just hear something new in each track every time it is played. It was the first time I had heard Dido and always wondered who she was until I got hold of her album a couple of months back (it's good, but I still Faithless has an edge). I just wish that Faithless would come on over and do a tour down 'ere in Devon!
