Don't know where to start really as this book seems to have everything in that I would like to know about Talbot Sunbeam and Alpine models. History, racing, models facts and figures, and interesting photos.
Photographs are really nice and there are lots I have not come across, while these are really nice it's the astounding level of detail that this book goes into which makes it so interesting to me,it will take me ages to read and to try to absorb some of the facts and figures. This book is a must have for Talbot Sunbeam and Sunbeam Alpine owners as well as enthusiasts. Thanks Anders it must have taken you an age to produce.

I must declare my interest: I own a 1933 Roesch Talbot. I was expecting this book dealing with the succeeding Rootes- produced models to be less than fair in its treatment of the 'old' company, and to present us with a eulogistic homage to the 'Sunbeam Talbots', thereby hopefully pleasing modern enthusiasts for these cars (the people most likely to buy the book!). In fact, however, Mr Clausager began his research for this volume with little knowledge of the subject and an open mind. He did his 'homework', even reading Anthony Blights monumental 450 page 'Georges Roesch and the invincible Talbot', which is anything but complimentary towards the Rootes brothers and their 'Talbot 10'.

In fact the book is very fair and pays due respect to the great Mr Roesch, but also provides some justification for the decision to build a Hillman Aero- Minx based Talbot and the succeeding and much more successful post war designs. Referring to the 1950's competition success of the Sunbeam Talbot Alpine model, he states: 'if the established brand reputations contributed to the standing of the Rootes built cars, so surely did the successes of these Sunbeam Talbots add fresh lustre to the traditional brand values'- which just must be fair comment.

There are excellant photograhs- both from the archives and commissioned shots of preserved cars. There are tables of specifications and lots of detail from contemporary road tests. Personally I like easily accessed detail of this kind. There is much here about racing and- especially- rallying, mostly dealing with the post war period; this is not my 'thing', but of course it is very interesting to many people.

Obviously very well researched and much detailed information. Excellent book for those restoring, owning or just interested in these models. Particularly welcome as to the best of my knowledge there are no other similar books published on these cars.

Excellent book on Sunbeam Talbot cars 21 April 2013

A well written book by Mr. Clausager that goes into detail of Sunbeam Talbot prior to and after the acquisition by the Rootes Group of England. There are plenty of photos of the cars, both in color and in black & white, with an eye to both the variations of models and related detail. Rally and racing history is also noted within the book.
