Format: Paperback
I'm really happy that my friend introduced this book to me on facebook when it was first released few weeks ago. She knew my love for Chinese literature and I'm a huge fan of the art of war. I own and have read many versions of the art of war such as Lionel Giles', Minford's, Samuel Griffith's and Thomas Huynh's, but their translation just wasn't up to par. Since I am bilingual, I could compare the original text in Chinese with their translation and oh my, the translation that other books provided was absolutely atrocious! Some sentences that Giles translated didn't even make any sense.

The translation in this version of the art of war book is perhaps the best yet. Since the book included the original text in Chinese alongside with the English translation beneath it, I could easily compare to judge its accuracy. There was a good flow in the way the author translated Sun Tzu's work and I was amazed by how she interpreted the text in light of spirituality. By the way it was written, I was almost convinced that Sun Tzu actually meant for it to be studied that way.

As with all the other versions of the art of war book, this book really makes you contemplate on your purpose of existence and how you can move forward in life to live the best life you can. This book was definitely a page-turner. and I am sure that everyone will benefit from reading it.

Based on the previous review, I took a chance in buying this book and I must say that there are no regrets. This is the first ART OF WAR book that included the Chinese text as well, which is useful for us who know the language. This feature is very useful for literature students.

The contents of this book were very thought-provoking and was a breath of fresh air. I've never seen any other version of Sun Tzu's work translated and interpreted in this way before. The author guides readers step-by-step, teaching them how to move towards their goals. The concepts put forward by the author were philosophical, but can be easily understood by anyone who knows the English language. Her translation was precise and in-sync with the original text.

Although Sun Tzu might have meant certain things literally in warfare, the author's ability to use each element in Sun Tzu's work as a metaphor could almost convince me that he was being philosophical himself -- introducing spirituality in the context of warfare.

This book is definitely the most intriguing piece I have ever read on the ART OF WAR. I would recommend it to any literature student who would like a good translated version accompanied with an extraordinary interpretation of the text.

Superb explanations worthy of a great Chinese classic 3 Feb. 2013
By Sonshi.com - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Genevieve Tan's recently published Art of War book titled "Sun Tzu's Art of War Unveiled: A Fourth-Dimensional Interpretation to Master Your Mind" is a superior Art of War book and a must-have edition for your library.

Much like Dr Thomas Cleary, Ms Tan has the rare gift of presenting complicated ideas and making them understandable. This is a mark of someone who truly grasped the material and, thus, teaches with great clarity.

For example, "Sun Tzu's Art of War Unveiled" explains so well the central yet intricate theme of our Chinese classic -- that the source of problems and opportunities in conflicts and competition is in the mind -- that even I wished we could have included some of her insightful concepts in the official Sonshi Art of War.

Despite my traditional mindset, I was convinced by Ms Tan's sound logic expounding Sun Tzu's Art of War. What most people would consider New Age or mysticism, the profound ideas presented were actually reasonable and practical.

I would be the last to tell you I know all the inner workings of the universe. So I remain open-minded to new ideas. Genevieve Tan's Art of War book is innovative and educational. You will learn many valuable lessons even if you're an experienced Art of War student. I know I did.

Conclusion: Highly recommended
