You may have noticed that there is no switch on for the sun jar - in fact there are no visible controls at all - there is a clever light sensor inside that automatically activates the lights when it gets dark or lights are turned out!* Mason Jars are not only beautiful but by their very nature they are completely water tight - so the Sun Jar can happily be left outside in any weather conditions. A perfect garden light or night light for a kids bedroom.
Remember that the Sun Jars need direct sunshine to work. Leave the Sun Jar outside or in a sunny window in direct sunlight for several hours to charge, (electric light indoors is not bright enough). Bad weather is bad news for Sun Jars. You may find that in winter or cloudy weather your Sun Jar illuminates for less time than normal, or even not at all. This is because your Sun Jar requires the Sun to re-charge.
For improved results, leave the Sun Jar switched off (switch up) whilst charging. Simply switch it to the on position (switch down) when you would like it to glow. This conserves battery life and will leave it to illuminate when you need it to. If the weather has been particularly bad, as a last resort you can also charge the batteries in a normal battery charger. Remember that there is an override switch inside the lid to turn off the light at night and conserve battery life.
The Sun Jar collects and stores sunshine during the day so that it can be used at night, creating a lovely glow. Simply leave the Sun Jar outside or in a sunny window in direct sunlight for several hours to charge. Captured inside the Sun Jar is a highly efficient solar cell, rechargeable battery and low energy LED lamps. You can switch between a warm amber colour or a cool moonlight blue colour. The light switches on automatically with darkness. The Sun Jar is water-proof and can be used outdoors. However we do not recommend leaving it outside in the rain, as the metal hinges may corrode.
The Sun Jar uses solar energy, saves electricity and is therefore environmentally friendly.

Moon Jar,

This review is from: Suck Uk Sun Jar Solar Light, LED, Blue (Misc.)
Bought this and the Sun Jar to sit in the conservatory on those lazy sunny afternoons, and that is exactly what you need to charge it properly. Bright days are not good enough so I was a little disappointed when I bought this in the winter and the charge didn't last long. However, now we have some decent sun the jars charge and glow with a dreamlike presence, and is well worth the money. They look so magical glowing in the corner, as if some fairy had been caught ib the jar.

This review is from: Suck UK Sun Jar Solar Light, LED, Amber (Kitchen & Home)
I am very disappointed with this. The problem seems to be that the build quality/quality control is very inconsistent. I bought one as a birthday present for my brother and another for myself. It turned out that he had previously bought one for his girlfriend so we had three to compare against each other.
The good- My brothers one was great, it glowed really nicely and would charge up on his living room windowsill, no small feat when you consider that he lives in the west of Scotland, a place not known for its sunny climate. The mediocre- His girlfriend one also charges on the windowsill and glows, but nowhere near as brightly. Having said that both will light in his living room with other lamps on. The bad-Mine! I live in Nottinghamshire and I am lucky enough to have a conservatory but mine more or less refuses to charge any more than enough to produce a pitiful glow and if you turn on any other light, no matter how dim, it will just go out. If you are lucky enough to get a good one then you have a lovely product; if not then you get a disappointingly expensive jam jar and given that we got one really good one out of three the odds are not that good. If you are thinking of buying one of these then bear in mind that you are likely to be playing sun jar roulette. Tighten up your quality control suck uk or your company name will find itself appended to your product.
