5.0 out of 5 stars An Introduction to Erotica 6 Nov 2011
By HeavyMetalManitou VINE VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As my first taster of literary erotica, Summer's Journey: Volume One - Losing Control was perfect. Essentially, it sets the scene for adventures to follow, reeling in the reader and ending on a cliffhanger (actually a dress-dropper, but you get the point).

After an emotionally disappointing and sexually unsatisfying marriage, Summer embarks on a journey of self-discovery. She explores submissiveness with the mysterious Mark, who woos her via a website he created in her name. Mark takes the dominant role in these interplays, like a Pied Piper of Erotica...and the entranced Summer follows. As her explorations of dominance and submission continue, she overcomes her disillusionment with the male gender and learns to trust Mark.

This volume acts as a teaser, setting the scene with well-written prose, realistic dialogue and believable characters. No explicit sexual situations feature in this volume, which ends just as the real fun is about to start; a clever trick on the writer's part, as the reader - having had his/her appetite thoroughly whetted - is left wanting more.

I read volume one in a little under an hour. It held my attention every step of the way. I can't wait to find out what happens in volume two after that little black dress hits the hotel-room floor.

4.0 out of 5 stars A woman to be admired! 22 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a very very quick read, in fact, it took me less than an hour. I think this is just the background story of Summer, allowing you to learn what she has been through and what she now desires.

Summer is recently divorced and now on the lookout for new adventures to try and intensify her sexual experiences. Her married life lacked the "spice" she so desperately desired.

After debating what to do, Summer signs up to net based dating programmes and meets Mark. Mark is also recently divorced and looking for someone to "play" with, and explore new things. He also wants to take control of everything and please Summer, knowing she has never experienced this before.

After reading this book, a few things were certain...
1) I want Mark too (I'm sure if you've read the above I don't need to say why)
2) Knowing this is a true story, I admire Summer for going out and getting what she wants.

This book is well written and gives rather detailed accounts of Summers life whilst, in this instalment, not being overly graphic.

So why the four stars and not five, you ask? The answer is because of how quickly it was over, this is not the sort of book I normally read, but I enjoyed every word of it and when it ended I was like... oh.. erm... ok! And I was a little annoyed. Especially with there being such a big build up around Mark, I wanted to know more of what happened when she finally met up with him.

I really cannot wait to read the next instalment, and I hope the author will put a huge smile on my face and allow me to review it for her. This will be being added to my favourites shelf!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Short but enticing 6 Sep 2012
By Laura
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have just finished reading Summer's Journey Volume One and I cannot wait to find out how the story progresses. True, it's short and took me about half an hour to finish (I'm a fast reader though) but still I enjoyed the story and thought it was quite cleverly written. This Volume serves as an introduction to Summer and her unconventional affair with Mark after going through her divorce. And it works as such, in a very short time I am already invested in the characters and simply need to find out what happens after the cliff hanger on which this volume ends!

If you were expecting to get a novel length book upon downloading this, yes it would be disappointing. But then again, the length is very clearly stated in the description!

5.0 out of 5 stars Left me wanting more! 5 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After some banter with the Author on Google+ I decided to check out her work. I have never read any erotica before so I didn't really know what to expect. I Instantly liked the characters and couldn't put my tablet down as I needed to know what was going to happen next. When I reached the end I had to buy the second instalment!! I'm now looking forward to the rest of the series.
If you're on the fence with this I highly recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant appetiser 19 Dec 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is clearly a teaser book - a little taste of what would be to come if you read on.Which I will. I found the story engaging and the characters were people I could really like as I got to know them even better. It's an intriguing scenario, and I'm dying to continue the journey

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad for a freebie 31 Oct 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this free. While it is good story it ends far to quickly, although I would love to hear what happens next I think 77p for book 2 is too much as its only 24 pages long.
I will keep an eye out for a drop in price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good short story
This I feel, is misrepresented as a book, more a magazine short story. No need to serialize it either, all 3 volumes could easy be brought together, but I guess that wouldn't... Read more

This is a very short story. Not enough to make me want to buy the second book. Lucky I got it for free as I would have been disappointed paying £0.77. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars really short book
this shouldnt really be a stand alone book as it is the start of the next book. 77p is a rip off for just a few pages, it should be free!
