More About the Author

David Robinson is a Yorkshireman living on the outskirts of Manchester, northwest England, with his wife and a crazy Jack Russell Terrier named Joe (because he looks like a Joe).

David writes in several genres under different pseudonyms, but his mainstay is crime and mystery. In January 2012 Crooked Cat Publishing picked up the first of his popular Sanford 3rd Age Club Mysteries, The Filey Connection. Since then a further eleven STAC Mysteries have been published by Crooked Cat and more titles are planned for 2015.

He also produces darker, edgier thrillers, such as The Handshaker, The Deep Secret and Voices; titles which are aimed exclusively at an adult audience and which question our perceptions of reality.

In a more light-hearted mood again, he uses the sledgehammer humour of his alter-ego Flatcap, to reflect on the absurdities of the world at large. Four Flatcap volumes are currently available for download.

As at October 2014, he is working on the 13th STAC Mystery, working title, A Theatrical Murder, which will be set in Skegness (a British seaside resort) in January. He is also preparing for the launch of the second Spookies Mystery, The Man In Black, which is due out late November.

If you have never read any of these books, do yourself a favour, start with no.1 and read all 8. They are fantastic.

A jolly, good detective story with fantastic characters.

Joe Murray curmudgeonly old git - (but younger than me!!) Fantastic charcterisation, solves murders by logic and observation (OMG he is Miss Marple re-incarnated!!)

His two life long lady friends Brenda & Sheila - great fun.

These books are well written, no fluff or page fillers (which is a big bug-bear of mine). Pure enjoyment

Worth every penny spent on them

No 8 of the STAC escapades and I've enjoyed every one of them. The main characters have become like familiar friends and the author sprinkles each yarn with gentle humour and 'tit bits' of history of the locality. Next we are off to Spain ~ I can't wait!

8 books already? You wouldn't think it.

I love them.
I don't agree with Joe's grumpy attitude for his age, he isn't old enough!
But its great light reading and I cant wait for No9.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable read. This time Joe, Brenda and Sheila were without most of the Sanford 3rd Age club members, instead being a family affair. The plot was intriguing and Joe was at his very best as a detective. The characters are always well rounded in Robinson's 3rd Age novels. I was immersed in the book from first to last. A well deserved 5 stars.

Bit far fetched in places did enjoy characters though. Didn't see the murderer until late into the book. Would the police work so closely to a member of the public - bit Miss Marplish!

A good plot and good to see a mystery without the 3rd age club involved. Bring on the next book.
