Laura Summers writes stories about real people; who we have all met in our lives sometime, somewhere and by the end of the book we know them much better. She alternates the different voices of Grace and Ellie, the sisters in the story, in each chapter and we hear the story from their viewpoints and understand it through their feelings. This story has something for everyone; its about families, struggles, bravery and happiness. It is about relationships, ordinary everyday situations, at school and at home and, people growing in confidence... truly inspiring. Sometimes its sad or scary, and sometimes also very funny. Her description of places make them feel familiar so we are part of the girls story. Her stories are exciting, and heartwarming and keep the reader engrossed til the end, when you never want them to finish. This is no exception and we think many readers would like to read a sequel to this one in particular. The Summer of telling tales is a fantastic summer read, foranyone nine to ninety, along with Desperate Measures and Heartbeat away.
