Product Description

Product Description

Following The Heir to Longbourn (Dexter Haven, 2009) and The Will of Lady Catherine (Dexter Haven, 2010), The Summer at Lyme triumphantly completes Laurence Fleming's trilogy of sequels to Pride and Prejudice. Fleming is as witty, playful and stylistically authentic as ever when Elizabeth and Darcy take the family to Lyme, where they encounter the aftermath of that fateful day on the Cobb and busy themselves matchmaking. A witty treat for any Jane Austen lover.

By Mrs. D. J. Smith VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
The Summer at Lyme follows on from Fleming's first two Austen sequels - 'The Heir to Longbourn' and 'The Will of Lady Catherine'. Although for all the books, Lizzy and Darcy are the main protagonists, Fleming weaves in characters from Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion too, to make for some very entertaining reading!

I think perhaps this was my favourite book of the three. There isn't a massive amount by way of plot, but it was a really nice, relaxing feeling to join the Darcy family at Lyme where they encounter Admiral and & Mrs Wentworth and re-encounter Miss Crawford and Mrs Grant and, of course, Miss Bingley in search of a husband!

I would recommend all three books to anyone who enjoys Jane Austen. My only regret is that there isn't a fourth book - and I think we do deserve to discover the consequences of all that lobster!
