My husband and I purchased this monitor just under a year ago, as did my sister and her partner, who we live with. We purchased it because of the mostly positive reviews and because we live in a big house, it was important to have a monitor with long range and video. Overall it's ok, but we experienced two pretty big problems:
1. Interference with Wi-Fi. Although the monitor claims not to interfere with Wi-Fi and many people have said there's was fine - ours was not! Every night when both my sister and I would switch on the monitors, our laptops would not work over Wi-Fi. When we switched them off, the Wi-Fi would come back. My husband is a programmer and tried to re-route them over a different frequency, but to no avail. In the end, we bought a more expensive router which works on a different frequency and all was resolved!
2. The screen has broken on both my sister's monitor, and more recently, mine. Two months ago, the screen on my sister's monitor went completely white with no picture. After 11.5 months, mine has done the same (the sound still works).
Thankfully, both were still under warrantee and Summer Infant have been great at replacing them.
I like the concept of a digital video baby monitor, but would look for an alternative brand in future.
