'Delightful - an enchanting story' JUDITH LENNOX --Judith Lennox

Product Description

A secret love that will haunt a family for ever England 1918. Lady Helen believes her parents when they say she will never find a better husband than Richard, but when he returns to the Front, she begins to wonder just who it is she has married. His letters home are cold and distant - and Helen realises that she has made a terrible mistake. Then Oliver Donovan enters her life and they begin an affair that leaves Helen pregnant and alone - she is forced to surrender her precious baby. Over twenty years pass and a second war is ravaging Europe, but that is not the only echo of the past to haunt the present. Laura Drummond is caught in a tragic love affair of her own and when she is forced to leave London during the Blitz, she turns to the mother she never knew.

Excellent 4 May 2010
Format:Paperback
This is one of the best books I have read for a while. The author's research on WWII is spot-on, especially of London during the Blitz. Much has been written with a similar background but the way that the characters and their stories are interwoven into historical detail is excellent. This is one of those books that truly takes you into another world- Just make sure you have plenty of time for this wonderful romance because you certainly won't want to put it down!

a lovely book 9 Jun 2010
By Mrs. T. SALMON VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book was the sort of book that is difficult to put down, i found the characters likable and i wanted to know what happened next.It might be a little predictable in places but that did not spoil it for me, sometimes there is the need to curl up with a book that has charm and a real story, i would recomend it for a read on holiday as it is a relaxing read. i will not tell the whole story as i really feel that spoils the book but is set mainly in world war II with flash backs to the first war. i hope you enjoy it as much as me

This book had me crying me eyes out before I'd even finished the prologue! It is a really enjoyable read, the characters are believable and their story totally absorbing. The wartime scenarios painted by the author were clearly well researched, adding to the reality of the storyline. I would highly recommend it - enjoy!

Not terrible, but not great
This book sounded so good and the first chapter I enjoyed, after that it went down hill. The story was predictable, but I could cope with that. Read more
