Product Description

Album Description

After the welcome reissue of 1969’s Sunshine Possibilities, this was to the third album from The Famous Jug Band and constitutes another charming essay in English pastorality. Features brand new songs from the pens of the Incredible String Band’s Clive Palmer, Pete Berryman, Jill Johnson-Sharp and jug-player Henry Bartlett re-affirm the wisdom of this convention recorded and produced Pierre Tubbs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wherefore Clive Palmer?, 23 Sep 2006
This review is from: O, For Summer (Audio CD)
Clive Palmer is one of today's music's most invidividual performers. I say 'today' but he's not exactly prolific so this 2003 recording by a reconvention of this rather charming 70s folk act (post Palmer's tenure with the Incredible String Band) makes this album one of his latest. The music on offer here is melodic, English folk in the manner of Magna Carta and the like. What lifts this from being pleasant alone is CP: the mournful voice, the plucked banjo, the sense of otherworldiness that seems to creep into all his work (check out those COB releases). Palmer is an original: shame there's not more of him out there ....
