5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant debut from the Ash guitarist, 12 Dec 2004

This review is from: Summer (Audio CD)
I was a bit disappointed with Summer when I first heard it - I thought the free download 'Kim Wilde' was a much more memorable song for a single - but after a few listens it revealed itself to be another excellent, catchy song from Hatherley that you can't help but sing along to once you've got your head around the superbly bizarre lyrics. It actually manages to feel quite summery, too, which is something you don't normally get with many indie songs. Once you're familiar with the unusual style, you won't be able to get it out of your head. There are better songs on the album, Grey Will Fade, but it's still a top-notch single.

The single is worth getting for the B-sides alone, with the plucky Commodore and the brilliant, more rocky S.M.U.T. keeping the standard as high as ever. Both are great additions to Charlotte's superb collection of tunes. I highly recommend this CD.
