5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By The Wolf TOP 50 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on 8 Dec. 2013
Format: Audio CD
Sandra Sumie Nagano in a singer/songwriter living in Sweden who needs
little more than her voice and guitar to generate the most beautiful noise.
This is a delightful debut in every way. Ms Nagano's vocals are as clear
as crystal and as sweet as nectar from a pale white mountain flower.
The occasional addition of subtle harmonies to augment her gentle folksy
compositions are all the decoration that this translucent music needs.

There are ten tracks in the collection and although almost entirely
adagio to andante in tempo there is more than enough content in the
limpid melodies to sustain our attention. Truth-be-told I was mesmerised.
Occasionally the spirit of early Joni Mitchell raises a hand above the
still surface of the lake but as in the gorgeous 'Speed Into' it is waving
and not drowning. 'Show Talked Windows', too, has a haunting tune which
hangs in the air like a wisp of candle smoke. Perhaps loveliest of all,
however, is 'Let You Go', as enchanting an invention as I've heard this year.

Ms Nagano fully grasps the importance of simplicity, economy and clarity.

The results are utterly bewitching.

Highly Recommended.

Sumie is a new discovery for me - courtesy of Amazon who gave me recommendations on my page and also several free tracks from various artists. Sumie was one and as soon as I listened to it I was blown away. The track was "Show Talked Windows"; she has an amazing voice - it is as clear as a bell but sensitive. I love the simplicity of her music and her lyrics. She has a very unique sound. I very quickly downloaded her album "Sumie" and everyone who has heard it playing has asked me who she is. Fabulous.

Utterly beguiling. Simple as a zen bath, smooth as a snowy owl...yet the use of the language, lyricism, is crisply dreamlike, vividly present yet passing effortlessly away- So a sense of paradox remains, a flitting array of images rather than a faint flickering; almost conveying an indefinable loss & very human emotive repercussions whilst being so damned pleasant it almost demands immediate replay because of the album's brevity. Strikingly immediate.

Acoustic folk flavourings if categorising is your bag, with barely a maudlin lilt, scarce any bravado of modern pops unnecessary hoo-ha...this is the sigh of a real artiste. More, more more..encore. Deserves an audience of every creature that might like Agnes Obel, Ane Brun, Rebekka Karijord or any one who might just prefer to sit under blossom trees as they start cascading.
