Absolutely loved this story - I'm not going to give it a proper criticism and comment on its literary depth because I really don't give a toss whether it has 'literary depth' or not. I want a good read that will entertain me and keep me interested and rooting for the main character - which is what I got.
I was sorry it was not longer - I loved reading about the character and her world of romance and cake-baking. Tried some of the recipes too which were fab. This is a book I would read again and again rather than just reading once and giving away.

Warm, witty and wise. I really loved this book, and was immediately caught up in Maddy's life and dilemmas, her struggle to start her own business, and her utter determination to make it succeed in spite of all the setbacks. This is a down to earth, real-life drama, but it is also about a dream which finally does come true. Maddy's story is inspiring, and her outlook on life funny, quirky and humane. Perhaps best of all are the amazing and delicious cake recipes, woven so cleverly into the story, and forming a narrative strand all of their own. A great novel - I am looking forward to reading the next by this author.

in the beginnning its not very original or exciting but as you read maddy's story it starts to get into ur heart. although i didnt find there was much chemistry between maddy and matt, the overall warm feeling of the story was really nice. and it made me want to eat cake, swiss roll is my favourite!!!!
