Product Description

Meet Andrew Collins.

Young, ambitious, and good-looking, Andrew knows that the daily grind of commuting and working is not enough for him.

He wants more than a boring job and a mediocre life. Mostly, though, he wants more money - a lot of it.

So when he answers an ad for male escorts, Andrew figures he's just found the perfect way to make some cash - with a Sugar Mummy.

Suddenly Andrew is living the dream - eating in exclusive restaurants, shopping in designer stores and cared for by his lover’s maid.

But now that he finally has the life he always wanted, Andrew finds himself drawn to a plain Jane.

She's a no-nonsense, deep-thinking shop assistant who has no interest in his materialistic existence.

So why can't he stop thinking about her?

Maybe because life in the lap of luxury isn't all it seems…

Drawn to Jane and feeling trapped by his very own Mrs Robinson, Andrew must figure out what matters most: money or happiness…

'Sugar Mummy' is a brilliantly funny yet also moving story that will enthrall readers. It is perfect for fans of Tony Parsons and Mike Gayle.

"A black comedy for the Hornby market." The Bookseller

'Simon Brooke is an immensely talented comic writer and his insider knowledge of both modelling and journalism make him an irresistibly ironic commentator on the gossipy, shallow worlds he writes about. A wonderfully enjoyable read.' Daily Mail

5.0 out of 5 stars A CHAOTIC TALE OF SEXPLOITATION 26 Mar. 2013
The main character andrew , appears to be having a midlife crisis in his twenties. And it's all downhill from there on. The interaction between him and his close friends, and his worklng colleagues can be a bit boring , but the rest is absolutely hilarious.Particularly between marion(the older woman)and her friends.I know humour can be subjective ,but at £ 2.99 it's worth a buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read 24 Feb. 2013

This is a very funny, good read about Andrew, who decides to earn some extra cash by becoming a male escort. From there it is only a short matter of time before he gets his very own "sugar mummy" and is whisked off on weekend breaks and dressed in designer gear by his cougar, Marion. He really should be in heaven but as time goes on he finds it harder and harder to juggle his life with Marion with his real life; going to work, seeing his friends and not to mention the really nice girl that he meets and wants to get to know better. He ends up having to face some very tough dilemmas and make some hard decisions but can he make a rational decision when his head has certainly been turned by the trappings of wealth?

He is thrown into a world of super wealthy women who think nothing of hiring an escort for the night and, as the book progresses, we also see the darker side of the escort industry and learn that it is not all about looking sexy in a nice suit in the top restaurants. Having said that, there are a few raunchy scenes, but nothing that would make you blush too much.

It is a very good enjoyable read with a cracking storyline, but unfortunately the editing really lets this book down. There are a lot of missing words and words used incorrectly; certainly enough to spoil the reading experience. The book would benefit from another proof reading and editing session which would turn this into a first rate read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your usual romance! 15 Feb. 2013
I was expecting a more straight-forward romance when I started reading this book but what I got was different (and in some ways better). Funny in parts, serious in others, it really sums up the `rat race' of modern life, with its concern with money, money money. It is a story about what the consequences are when you choose to sacrifice everything - your friends, relationships, integrity - to make some easy cash. Author has tried to write a new take on a Tony Parsons and Mike Gayle book, being a mixture of both the dark and light, and for the most part he succeeds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Witty and touching `confessions' of a male escort 15 Feb. 2013
Bored of his daily life and tired of feeling undervalued and underpaid, Andrew decides to be spontaneous and say `yes' when he is offered the opportunity to become a male escort. What ensues are a string of amusing (yet often believable) events. To begin with it is great - plenty of champagne, fine dining, great sex - but as the book goes on things start to get a bit more contrived.. This was a funny, engrossing read and I found that the sex scenes were relevant - not ridiculous and gratuitous like you find in a lot of books! Book should appeal to both men and women, being both chick lit and lad lit. Worth a try.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good start, too long a middle and great ending! 3 July 2013
Verified Purchase
This book started really well and I felt that I was in for a great read as I began to follow Andrew's adventures into becoming an escort. However, it all began to get a bit dark (but still very interesting) and it took a more intriguing turn. Reading on, Andrew becomes less likeable and, as a result, I felt the book became more difficult to read (you have to invest in a character in order to stay interested. . . but maybe that is just me!). There were holes in the plot and some of it was just outrageously boring but, because I was so far through it, I wanted to see how it ended. I am glad I did because I thought it ended well, with just enough ends tied up. Basically, it is a romp with a character that you like and despise in equal measure. . . . .

An easy read. Not everyone's cup of tea. Well written, but personally found Andrews character lacking in parts and quite irritating.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Addictive read 14 Mar. 2013

From start to finish this book gave nothing away about what would happen next, it certainly was a page turner. The characters were all very bold and I do enjoy books that are based in the UK rather than America etc. I read it quick because I could not put the book down. I have told all my kindle friends about it. It feels real at times and the book has made me think a lot about money.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story
It was nice to have a man's side of the story, in a chick lit but the one annoying thing all throughout the book were the spelling mistakes.

2.0 out of 5 stars No, no, no
Another abandoned book. There was nothing to like about the protagonist and the writing was too vapid to stick along for the ride.
